Appearance

Effluvium is a hulking mass. It is barely recognizable as a gembound, an ever-shifting mass of red, raw flesh. Limbs jut out at random from its near formless body. Some tentacles, some featherless wings, some clawed, grasping hands. Nearly each with mangled fingers, claws and teeth that do not belong. It does have the vague sense of having a body. It manages to move itself with a pair of massive front limbs, on hands with too many fingers, each tipped with claws. In spite of any natural sense of design, there may be fingers jutting from random spots on its limbs. It secretes a red mucus, reminiscent of blood, which keeps the flesh from drying out. It constantly looks shiny.

It's head, if one could call it that, is an amalgamation of multiple jaws and mismatched teeth. It looks as if there are multiple heads, each fighting for the right to be the sole pair of jaws. Each glued together with muscle and sinew. It's jaws close poorly, given the sheer multitude of them. It is a sloppy eater, and it takes multiple attempts for it to find the right pair of jaws to swallow. The tendrils near its' face aid in eating. Eyes are placed randomly upon each jaw, and the front of it's body. They are a sickly yellow color mostly, though some are radioactive green or white. The pupils vary by eye.

Some are pupiless, while others may have a round pupil. They dart around wildly. A row of spinal processes jut from the top of the beast, pale white, and end at the forelimbs. The creature terminates in a mass of blood vessels, tendrils, and meat, which it drags around. It has a grouping of stumpy limbs along this flesh, which it uses to aid in movement. None are nearly as large as it's main pair of arms. The mucus it leaks drips as it moves, and it leaves a trail of the reddish fluid wherever it goes.

But this is an adult Effluvium. As a baby, it is different. It has much less eyes, and a single pair of jaws, splitting the creature's head vertically. It's limbs, aside from those which it walks with, are stumpy and merely there. Never extending past the head. It can flex them, but not much more than that.

It is three feet tall as a baby, and 7 feet long. It will grow quickly, given it has a steady supply of meat to add to its' mass. As an adult, it will be a maximum of 7 and a half feet tall, though its' size will fluctuate with it's mass. It will be thicc, around 8 feet wide.

The mucus it secrets gives off a horrid stench, like rotting meat. As a baby, it will be much more tolerable, a faint smell. But as an adult, it is always obvious where the creature is and has been. The creature may gain random temporary body parts by consuming lessers. They are often imperfect. Will roll for each. They will fall off over time, leaving a free snack for whatever lesser happens upon it. It's stone is a hunk of raw jasper, within the bundles of muscles within its chest. It can willingly split the muscles to reveal the jasper.

Personality

Effluvium is an instinctual being. Driven by the want for food. They are indiscriminate at first, gnawing at anything with a pulse. But over time they will learn to distinguish food from gembound, although they may ask for the odd finger a greater isn't using. Although Effluvium can process plant matter, they will almost never intentionally do so.They do not crave it, nor consider it worth their time.

They are a literal being, and metaphors will often go over their head, although they swear they would catch it. Morals are a thing that elude it. It is a creature that exists to consume and evolve, and that is all there is to it. Pain does not phase it for the most part. Pain simply angers the beast, in most cases. But it fears fire. From the day they hatch, they will fear it. Fire burns away their mucus and exposes their flesh, and the raw nerves are sensitive to the burns.

They do not understand friendship, but they will tolerate the company of others. Effluvium is selfish in this sense. It views friendships and company as means to an end. Protection sometimes, and a potential source of food in the future. Though rare, verging on impossible, one may try to befriend the massive chicken nugget. Their voice is guttural, and clipped. It sounds wet. Sentences punctuated with the sound of breaking bones and clamping jaws. Their roars are high pitched, almost screams.
