Appearance

As a baby, Elderberry is an odd looking and lanky thing. Cloven hooves end spindly legs that he often trips over. His long neck, back, and butt are covered with scruffy tufts of white, tufty down, whilst their torso and legs are lightly furred with the fuzzy baby coat of a juvenile moose. With huge eyes and almost donkey-like ears, and a pointed beak on their face, He'll look, quite frankly, ridiculous.

As he ages though, Elderberry will grow into... a little more of an elegant frame.

He'll grow into their spindly legs and their torso will become thickly muscled as with an adult moose. His long, long neck will grow sleek black feathers, and the fuzzy down sprouting in tufts down his back will grow into rows of quill feathers similar to those found on birds' wings. The tufted feathers on his rump will shed, growing instead a fan of tail feathers meant for balancing flight... not that they'll be any use here.

His voice, however unwittingly, tends to emerge as a coarse and raucous honking, and he has no volume control. The lowest sound he can produce is a deep and moose-y rumble deep within his breast, and even that tends to carry.

Personality

Elderberry tends to be a quiet sort, rarely speaking unless spoken to. At times, it may seem that he acts out of politeness alone; other times that it's out of a distaste for contact, however in reality, Elderberry rarely speaks unless he feels the need. He may seem cold towards strangers, but within stirs only a quiet neutrality towards others who have not yet made an impact on his life.

As a by-product of the family he was born into, Elderberry will grow to love the thrill of battle. Acquaintances will find that, rather than rivalries or animosity, Elderberry regards those he has fought with respect and admiration. Except, of course, they resorted to less-than-savoury means such as cheating or, in some cases, magic. It is from battle that many of his life relationships will arise, whether they stem into fiery friendship, romance, or bitter hate. An introductory sparring session, to Elderberry, often takes the place of formal introductions, allowing him not only to size up future opponents, but to make a judgement on their character by how they fight.

He will not shy away from size or age, and can seem reckless; but the more he admires or loves someone, the more he will feel the need to engage them with gentle headbutts or brief wrestles. Contact with siblings will likely be interspersed with fond tussling or gentle nudges. What Elder doesn't express in words will be expressed in brief bursts of physical contact.

Towards family and those he maintains a friendly relationship with, Elderberry is fiercely loyal. You'd be hard-pressed to find a more constant stoic companion, and in the future he may make a fine bodyguard. However, with this loyalty comes stubbornness Although Elderberry does not get cravings for revenge, he will hold long and steady grudges, and similarly, holds those he holds in a positive regard can do very little to change his views. If two fighting friends expect him to take sides, Elderberry will be the first to suggest duking it out instead.
