The bigger of the twins he was born into (and wound up being alone in,) Eythan is a creature inspired by gryphons in tales of old. He stands 36" (91 cm) tall. However, he is much longer than he is tall (75"/190 cm long from head to base of tail), built upon short and stocky limbs with a long, lithe and lean body. Behind him, a long tail flicks back and forth in careful anticipation to pounce upon prey, being 43" (110 cm) long. In adulthood, he will weigh 81 lbs (37 kg), thanks to lightweight bones that allow him flight and not weigh him down.

With hybridization came many features that some felines could only dream of. Upon his face is the first odd and unique trait, a beak lined with sharp white teeth, intended for gnashing up meat or breaking particularly tough bones. From his father, he inherited the classic bearded look, whisker-like feathers growing about the base of his beak and dropping down in a 'beard'. His eyes own bright, carmine scleras, with yellow irises and dark pupils. His forelegs are normal for a feline, but the paws have been replaced by somewhat dexterous avian talons, sharp and non-retractable claws upon each digit. Powerful hind legs remain unchanged, however. The most obvious feature of the griffin-esque creature is probably the great expanse of wings that he possesses. At first too large for him to properly fly with due to awkward cub proportions, the wings will grow to be a stretching plain 12' (3.7 m) in size. His tail is two-fold, first beginning with feathers at the base that fan in and out like a normal avian's rudder-like feathers, and a fan at the tip to aid in steering.

The fur of the hybrid is short, yet thickly layered as insulation to keep warm, and is colored a gentle tan hue. Upon the base color, dark chocolate rosettes make themselves known, appearing where any tan hues are upon his fur. An eggshell-colored undercoat fills in the insides of his ears, the space about his eyes, his undersides, the entirety of his front legs, the base of his wings, socks on his hind legs and his tail feathers.

In the grand scheme of things, Eythan has been doing better.

He's still impulsive at times, claws flexing deep into whatever he may be standing upon. He still has a nasty habit of wadding up the tangled web of his psyche and stuffing it into the hamper, underneath all of his dirty laundry. He still catches himself looking down from the heights, wondering what he'd find if he let himself drop, falling down, down, down---.

Besides those few (oh-so-little, he'd claim) things, Eythan's been doing better.

He keeps a tighter hold of his more negative emotions, pushes them down with more positive emotions. Eythan teases every Gembound he meets, but with a measured gentleness that often winds up attracting them. Once contact is initiated and a friendship is established, his teasing ramps up to more physical gestures, such as head-ruffles and obnoxious physical contact. He becomes more open with his feelings and his conscious, yet lends a listening ear and shoulder as needed. Eythan In more ways than one, he often takes on the role of a brother.

History

He emerges alongside his brother Carni, in Tunnel K, near the bone room. Life then is uneventful, blips and blurs of it in his memory. Eythan, his brother, and his father, spend time simply bonding. Just after he reaches two cycles of age, Azazel assembles what remains of the Bonebound, hoping to call forth more Gembound from the woodwork in the absence of his dear friends. One of the Karkata line, Remedy, arrives in Canis, sparking Eythan's first sense of true déjà vu.

As time goes on, the young Vita-born grows resentful of his father and his absenteeism. At the peak of it, he accidentally draws his talons across Azazel's neck, killing him via wicked impulse. Ashamed and terrified of what he has done, he flees home and everything he had ever known. These cycles were spent in isolation, mulling over and denying what he had done and trying to justify it. Trying to hide from it. In the process, he encounters some new, fledgeling life in the form of Morthos.

Somehow, Eythan is drawn back to Canis, having a chat with his little brother and winding up with a shattered pelvis as a result. At Carni's mercy, he agrees to aid him in being the right wing man to the revival of their father's legacy. He somehow manages to become uncle to Carni's adopted son Morrigarra and take him out to Polaris. He loses Morrigarra and a giant crystal spider attacks. At least he found Morri.

As the Marrowbound Kingdom disperses, the spotted twin attempts to leave Canis. Selfishly, Carni demands Eythan stay lest he start crying "wolf!" Furious and on impulse—once again—he kills his little brother and attempts to bury the hatchet by smashing his stone and burying it among the bones. Eythan flees to Polaris for a second time. In later cycles, Bones and Giggle come seeking information, and he attempts to sway suspicion. Despite his successful lies, Eythan grows paranoid and frantic for the coming cycles.

It all comes to fruition as Giggle returns, fury in her eyes and accusing him of Azazel's murder. Eythan is incapacitated and realizes that he no longer can deny what he has done, nor can he hide from it. Given the choice between death and redemption, he chooses the better one. He returns to Canis, resting and spilling the rest of his proverbial guts out for Giggle to see. In return, the hyena gives him a purpose: to guide and defend the coming Bone King.
