Look, corporate demands that I go into length about this thing, but we both know you're just gonna skim everything I wrote and all it a day. I get it. Good for you if you're not like that, but I know most of you aren't getting paid to comprehend every word I put to paper, alright?

You wanna know what this thing is? It's a slime. That's it. You can see it on the file. It changes shape like most other slimes do. It's just thirty-five imperial gallons of pearlescent slime. It's got three layers: the outer layer covered in pores, the inner layer made up of stomach acid, and a core with its internal soft bits in there. You wanna kill it, you go for the core.

It moves as a slug does. It crawls. All it does is ooze around and eat, so that it can change shape. That's all you have to know. You wanna see it all in detail, the files are there.

Subject is composed of three layers: an outer layer, an inner layer, and the core. The outer layer is largest, consisting of approximately 60% of the specimen.

Semi-opaque, the outer layer is mostly clear and grey but takes on a pearlescent property beneath light. Current agreed upon hypothesis is that this is used to lure prey. Similar to amphibians, the subject absorbs oxygen directly through pores scattered across the 'skin.' Subject does not appear to be affected by losing parts of the outer layer, however. More information in file 2.

Though it is ill-advised to touch the subject, the specimen is warm to the touch. ██████s have described the viscosity as 'soupy,' or 'like gelatin.' One ██████ noted that the subject is wet to the touch; covered in a thin sheen of moisture.

The inner layer is thicker compared to the outer layer's texture; more viscous but entirely transparent. This layer consists of mostly a substance similar to stomach acid. More information in file 3.

The core is a small, bean-shaped sac that seems to stay in one place. It is six inches wide and three inches tall. It has a thick, leathery skin and is totally opaque, visible through the other two layers. Inside the core is the subject's organs; lungs, a brain, a heart and a quartz gemstone. No matter what shape the subject takes, the core does not change size nor location, often staying at the 'head,' or perhaps simply what the subject thinks of as a head.

Subject has been known to change shape and colour. Pouring dyes into subject results in a brief colour change of the outer layer, without direct harm to the respiratory system. More research needed.

Fully intact, the specimen is approximately three hundred and fifty pounds, and fits quite neatly into a one hundred and sixty litre barrel.

Unlike the rest of the structure, the core never moves nor changes. It is a hollow structure consisting of a thick, leathery substance not unlike a jellyfish's bell. The core is bordered a double membrane; an inner similar to an epidermis layer and an outer layer perforated with pores. The outer layer produces a thick mucus that protects it from the acidic qualities of the inner layer. The core is composed of 40% water-- the lowest water content in the subject's body.

The porous layer and the mucus it secretes appears to enable it to absorb nutrients from the subject's stomach acid and the oxygen from the outer layer. Inside the core itself is a fluid rich in oxygen, which surrounds the brain and a quartz gemstone. This fluid also carries consumed cell structure directly to the brain, allowing it to register and shapeshift. More information in file 4.

Current hypothesis is that the quartz replaces some kind of larynx, as the subject seems incapable of speech in its base form.

Consisting of 70% water, the subject's inner layer is highly acidic, breaking down whichever matter finds its way inside. The cells making up whatever it consumes are brought directly to the brain where it absorbs them to use for foundation for shapeshifting (file 4).

The outer layer is 90% composed of water, with a thick, porous rind around it. It is constantly shedding and regrowing pieces of the outer layer, and it makes up the majority of the subject's body. It is made up of unspecialized chromatic cells which allow it to shift colour and texture at will. More information in 4.

Oxygen is directly taken from contact on the skin and transferred into the mimic's body as an amoeba might, and brought through all layers into the core. Small clusters of nerves also connect to the brain, allowing it to detect sensory stimuli such as sound, pain, light, heat and various textures.

The outer rind covering this layer can also stiffen seemingly at will, allowing it to take on rudimentary shapes, but these shapes cannot carry weight (such as holding items) without further specialization.

Though it shifts at will, studies show that there is a stretch of more muscular skin (often directly parallel of the core) that acts as a foot, akin to what you might find in gastropods.

Along the rind and throughout the outer layer of the subject is clusters of nerves. It seems able to detect when things are touching it and where a light source is, but is incapable of true sight without specialization. These nerves connect directly to the brain in its core much as you'd expect from any other sentient creature.

As you may expect, its nervous system is ever-fluxiating. Nerves that are more specialized to detect pain, however, are located in the inner layer and into the core. The subject will not react to its outer layer being cut or separated from the rest of the mass, and the lost mass grows back within a few days akin to any other lesion you might find on something with skin. Cutting into the inner layer will cause much more damage and cause the mimic to recoil as though in pain.

It should be noted that in its base, fluid form, it is entirely incapable of speech and is effectively blind, unable to percieve a majority of the world around it other than shadows and heat.

An opportunistic omnivore. Anything that finds its way into the inner layer of the subject is consumed within a few hours. However, nothing goes to waste.

Nutrients mean very little to the mimic. What it is hungry for is knowledge and change. When it ingests something, the molecular cells are split and sent back to process in the brain, registering the many unspecialized cells throughout its body. This allows the subject to change shape, which it does so very thoroughly.

For living things, internal organs are built up first. It is a slow and meticulous process; it grows each indivual part made to make a thing work, work. Observing the subject shows that early stages of transformation look a lot like a corpse rotting in reverse; dust, then bones, then flesh, then blood is restored through newly-created veins. It does, however, require a visual aid to know how the new form moves and acts.

It seems able to mimic objects, too, provided it has consumed the required ingredients-- but the subject seems to struggle with these. More often than not, some sort of organic matter is thrown into the mix: eyes on a door where there should be none, a chest with huge, barbed teeth, a bag with legs that runs.

On that vein, the mimic is able to turn into whatever it desires, provided it has consumed the materials to do so. It cannot create what it has not seen before-- example: if the subject wishes to turn into a rat, but has only ever consumed reptiles, it will become a rat-shaped organism with reptilian scales and uneven feet. Observers wish to note that they would describe this occurence as, 'creepy.'

Similarly, the subject cannot become something that weighs more or less than 350lbs. If it wishes to become a rat, it will not be small: it will be a four foot tall, three hundred and fifty pound rat. If it wishes to become an elephant, it will become a three foot tall, three hundred and fifty foot elephant.

As such, the subject looks much more natural when assuming shapes that are naturally a similar mass to it. The subject also seems to have a preference for remaining relatively small, but sturdy.

After making contact with the 'spinosaurus' in ██████, subject has taken on the form of a skrungler. It is nearly double the size of most of them, standing at four feet tall. On occasion-- largely, when in the company of said spinosaurus --it forms the tip of its tail from bristles into a fern. Perhaps this is for identification. Perhaps it thinks they are a pack.
