Appearance
Anyone who sets eyes upon a duck-billed platypus would probably assume they were a hybrid, which would not be an absurd assumption. A creature with the bill and feet of a duck, venom like a snake from its ankles of all things, fur and a tail like a beaver, and a shape like that of a loaf of bread. With a pouch like a marsupial and the ability to lay eggs like a reptile, paired with the fact that it is largely a carnivore, the platypus (and especially Gizmo, who has both venom and egg-laying capabilities for some inexplicable reason) is a strange creature indeed.

Gizmo is even stranger than the average platypus. In place of the usual dark, beady eyes, he instead has what seems to be two round and foggy pink gems of Smithsonite. In reality this is one piece of a gem connected under his skin, but the only way to tell would be to run one's fingers over the space between his eyes and be aware that the almost imperceptible bump is not normal.

Giz will be born hairless, though his skin will be similar in color to his fur, which will grow in over the next several weeks of his life. Before this, however, he will struggle with cold temperatures and warming up after being in the water, which is an issue because most of his food is found at the bottom of ponds.
Personality
Gizmo is a mellow creature, rarely bothered by his surroundings. He is especially unbothered by his inability to see as traditional Gembound do -- he is fully aware of his surroundings due to his sonar-like ability to 'see' those around him. Admittedly this ability is more fragile on land and generally things need to be within a couple yards of him to be 'visible', but underwater this is far more effective.

He carries himself with a sort of careless disinterest. The only way to really snap him out of this is to scare him, which is more difficult that one might expect considering he's generally pretty good at figuring out if someone is lying (or bluffing). However, Gizmo is not exactly lazy -- just content with himself.

Still, Gizmo has a competitive streak. Challenging him to a contest of any sort tends to excite him, and he never backs down even if he is clearly going to be beat. Contests of water and perception are especially exciting to Gizmo, who is always eager to prove that his strange form is highly optimized and excellent at fulfilling its purpose.

He's also curious enough to collect strange things and seek out strange things to collect, like fabric and bits of metal. While he can't really use any of the things he likes to locate, they're still nice to have and he's happy to consider trading them away for something of equal or greater value. This means that the Collector is someone who intrigues him greatly.

OTHER
VENOM
Gizmo has venom which can be administered via the spurs on his back feet, though you'd have to attack him and give OOC permission for him to stab you. Probably lasts no more than a few hours, varying depending on your size and his roll.

Critical Failure: Gizmo trips when he's trying to jab you, or falls forward by accident.
Failure: The spurs fail to penetrate the skin OR Gizmo misses for any reason.
Barely Successful: Anything that weighs less than than ~45 lbs experiences severe pain. Anything between ~45 lbs and ~150 lbs experiences mild (but irritating) pain. Anything larger than ~150 lbs is mildly irritated at best.
Successful: Anything that weighs less than ~45 lbs experiences extreme pain, perhaps even leading to paralysis. Anything between ~45 lbs and ~150 lbs experiences severe pain. Anything greater than ~150 lbs experiences mild (but irritating) pain.
Critical Success: Anything less than ~45 lbs experiences excruciating pain, likely resulting in (temporary) paralysis and maybe even death. Anything between ~45 lbs and ~150 lbs experiences extreme pain. Anything greater than ~150 lbs experiences severe pain.
