Appearance
A beast about five feet and a half feet tall at the tallest point. Mottled browns and grays, low-slung and extremely well-muscled, its short and stout limbs armored at their fronts with keratin plates and tipped with enormous, thick claws (the innermost foreclaws being much longer and larger than the rest). The tail is short and stubby. The skull, neck and back are all likewise armored. An armored chest leads to a translucent belly, where both organs and a faint orange glow can be seen. The small eyes (the creature is very nearsighted), nostrils, heat vents at the ribs, and jaws (when open) all likewise glow. This is due to highly acidic blood; Gravedigger is therefore relatively adapted to acid. The massive, modified salivary glands behind immense jaws secrete thick, glowing orange acid used to break down rock. Long feelers help it navigate the dark, as do huge bat ears sensitive to vibration. This creature can consume rock to regrow claws and broken or worn teeth over days. Personality
Appearances are not always deceptive - the Gravedigger is a beast that looks and acts like a volcano. In his default state, he is mild mannered and surprisingly kind for a corrupted Valkhound. Not all beasts of chaos must be agents of evil at all times, right? But it is not a perfect moral creation, as there is still that craving for destruction that ever-haunts the corrupted. For the Gravedigger, it is a love of physical violence and material destruction. He loves knocking things over, creating a mess, almost child-like sometimes in the way that he might start casually ruining whatever he is looking at. Its not usually too much and its usually for mild enjoyment, and if he is asked to stop, he will. The energy will be stored, preserved, built up for later. He also doesn't particularly enjoy hurting others unless he absolutely has to. But that is in rest. Dormant. It's never a state of perfect content, either. He will always be haunted by visions of destruction and violence that he happily gorges himself upon, holds for later, like a volcano storing energy, more and more and more until it erupts. And when he erupts he is a monster with little reason, a hound, a force of massive destruction. You can set him on a goal before the rampage begins, but once it starts, little can sway him out of it until his task is complete or he runs out of energy. Those are usually the only two things that will calm him from his explosive fury. And there is also something like a primal joy in his chaos, like a cathartic release of the chaos stored within his heart. All his love for physical destruction comes to the forefront, and his disdain for hurting living beings is swept under the rug. All things are for him to destroy. All things will be destroyed.
