Appearance
haruo, as it is, is a tiny thing. he stands no higher than 11 inches tall at the shoulder, and weighs little more than 8 lbs. his legs, looking a little long for his body, bow out and are wobbly until the end of his first cycle of life, at which point they have become bouncy and frequently fold under him as he learns just how high and how far he can leap and bound in them.
adorned with bright red fur decorated with white spots all along his body, this fawn is unmistakably infantile. a faded black stripe runs down from his ears to the tip of his tail, ending on its underside which is as bright white as his belly below. his head is round and his snout at almost a right-angle against his head, with big, dumbo ears jutting out from either side of his skull. his brown eyes are big and alert, adorned with thick eyelashes that would surely flutter fetchingly if he blinked a little more often. his gem is a thin streak around the base of his neck, almost like a vein peeking through his skin or an undisturbed seam of ore. it is a messy amalgam of jade green, pale maroon and black speckles, as if it has been corrupted and is growing mouldy. as he grows and the thick fur around his neck comes in, the seam of ore will be less immediately visible, but as with many other gembounds in the cave, it glows and crackles inaudibly when the young buck casts a spell. haruo is as curious a child as any. he is born acutely aware of his surroundings, and his thirst for knowledge is seemingly unending. he is an adventurous child, but a cautious one as well--it seems he has been blessed with a sharp mind, or perhaps it is just in his instincts to be ready to run at all times. he finds himself a needy child, eager to please his friends, eager to earn their approval. he craves intimacy, he is desperate for trust, but perhaps that isn't an odd thing for a child. time will tell if it persists into his adulthood and becomes something a little less innocent, but for now, haru seems to simply be a social, outgoing child with budding leadership skills. from a young age, the little buck has a tendency to sing his words, especially when he's excited. and many times, when he sings, it is in a syllabic language; as a child, haruo does not understand when others do not understand his speech, but his first instinct is to speak in japanese. over time he will learn to grasp other languages he hears, but for the first bit of his life, haruo will likely struggle making himself understood by those around him. to add insult to injury, haruo does not understand his magic, and his volatile element may prove to bite him in the rump if he does not learn to be careful. - haruo, until his fourth or fifth cycle, has a very thick japanese accent; he has difficulty pronouncing consonants at the end of words and will often end them with -u or -o sounds, or simply not pronounce that part of the word at all. i do not write this out explicitly in his dialogue as i feel that would be a bit demeaning, but in general, his pronunciation of english words is a lot softer than that of a native speaker. his ch's sound more like sh's, he puts more emphasis on vowels, and often drags them out a little longer than a native speaker would. this is simply a process of him becoming more familiar with the language as he gets older and speaks it more. - haruo speaks japanese right out of his chrysalis, but will quickly begin to pick up on the language that most other gembounds he speaks to use. by the time he is at 3 cycles, he should be able to adequately communicate in english, and by the time he is an adult he will be fluent in both languages, though his clarity will be an ongoing process throughout his life. |

Bio: hi i'm wulf and i mostly write themes of mental illness, lgbtq+ stuff, trauma & most prominently recovery as these are very important and prominent things in my life, and i like spreading understanding and positive themes around these things that are often so stressful to deal with in real life! i promise i'm not just a fiend for angst lol. i hope, in little ways, i can make a difference with my art (which is not just limited to RP) by helping people like me be more understood by the general public and giving hope to people who share the experiences that i write. maybe sounds corny lol, but it's a big deal to me!
