Appearance
- Heliophobia - Halfway between leucistic and fully-colored, Hikari is a peacock of appearances. White dominates his feathered body and the train he carries behind him, but hints of green and blue peak through in parts of his tail and along his neck and head. His pitchblende eyes stare appraisingly over his surroundings, taking in information, and when he opens his peach colored beak to speak, his voice is silvery, masculine, and controlled, each word evidently mulled over before he speaks. His stone is a purpled kunzite hidden within his body, taking the place of his liver. He stands at three and a half feet tall, his species being one of the larger birds, and, indeed, would normally be a majestic sight—were it not for the fact that he is cursed to always roam in shadows. Hikari is photosensitive; although it cannot be seen on the surface, underneath his feathers, any light exposure burns his skin, causing lesions and a horrible rash, not to mention an unpleasant burning sensation that causes him to avoid the light whenever possible. Still, he carries himself well despite being restrained to the shadows, standing tall and proud, confident and ready to explore the world. - The fear of sun or sunlight. - Personality
- Nyctophilia - Hikari’s main motivation wherever he goes is usually curiosity. Curiosity about the world, curiosity about the animals he sees around him, about his fellow gembound—he wants and values knowledge above all else. The way he goes about obtaining this knowledge is coldly logical, careful, detached, setting out one experiment after another until he comes to a conclusion. Other gembound puzzle him the most; no matter how much Hikari experiments or interacts with them, he can never quite understand them. They are a wildcard to him, an unknown factor—an attitude which makes him come off as cold and detached. Despite this, he is an outgoing bird; his isolation from anywhere there is light makes him crave social interaction. He’ll never pass up a chance to talk with someone else; even just simple small talk recharges him and gives him a feeling of contentment. And, typical of any peacock, he has a streak of vanity to him. He has a certain obsession with his appearance—his free time not spent following his inquisitions and thoughts about the world is spent preening and washing his feathers, making sure each one is practically shining, making sure not a feather is out of place. Once he discovers dye, he’ll take the time to dye himself with various colors, experimenting with different appearances and seeing which one is the most beautiful to him. - A love of darkness or night; finding comfort in the darkness. - History
