Appearance

Huckleberry is a medium sized creature, standing at 4 feet at the shoulder, once fully grown, and weighing at barely 35 lbs. It's body is not unlike a hippogriff, but instead of eagle and horse, it is goose and moose. It's body is a mixture of hair and feathers in a dark brown color. It has a head that is broad, long, and slightly over-sized for its small body and a thick, sturdy neck. On top of its head sits a pair of typical moose ears. Along the back of its neck and ending at its shoulders and sharper feathers, similar to Blackberry's quills, which are a lighter color then the rest of its body. There is a round piece of Apatite wedged between its eyes, much like Blueberry's but bigger in proportion.

Its front legs, which are gray in color and scaly in texture, are the legs of a goose, but not webbed and with sharp talons on the ends. It's back legs, which are covered completely with dark brown hair, are shaped like a moose's with black hooves on the end. It has a small tail like that of a moose, but covered in small feathers instead of hairs. Growing from its shoulders are a pair of typical goose wings covered in lighter brown, soft feathers.

Huckleberry sports a number of different scars - the most obvious is a a long, thin scar running across their face from their left eyebrow, under their gem, and over their muzzle. The other is a series of deep marks along their right side. There are a variety of other small scars scattered across their body, but they aren't nearly as prominent.

Shiny is Huckleberry's gilded catsquirrel familiar. She's about two feet in length, not counting her long, busy tail which doubles her length, and has a body most similar to a house cat. Some features of her, however, have echoes of a rodent, namely her muzzle, which is pointed, her back legs, which are long and strong, and her paws which split into four toes on each foot. She's covered in thick, soft, dark brown fur tipped with a gold coloration, giving her the appearance of being coated in gold leaf, hence the name "gilded". She has four long ears that are excellent for hearing and has a yowling cry similar to a cat. Her eyes are a green-gold color and her stone is a chunk of malachite, invisible on the outside, embedded in her stomach.

Huckleberry is a bit of a crybaby. Years and cycles of trauma at the hands of his "family" have made him a bit of an unpredictable coward, lashing out with magic when he feels scared or threatened, never truly able to control his own flooding emotions. It's easy to get him dissolving into tears over his miserable life and there is seemingly no way to stop it once it comes. But it's such a common occurance, at this point, that Huckleberry himself has given up trying.

Thoughtful, sympathetic, and gentle is what drives Huckleberry's very core, even if it is so hard to bring to the front. They are emotional and sensitive, much kinder then the others in its family, which got them into a lot of trouble as a growing gembound. The abuse they suffered at the claws of Blackberry have also given them problems with anxiety, anger issues, and loyalty to a fault. Despite having separation from them for a very long time, they still feel the aftereffects of the rigid programming their "mother" put them through to make him blindly loyal to what was a very uncaring, violent family.

They struggle to function on their own, independence stunted by their early life. They've never truly outgrown their scars and find making decisions for themselves an incredibly difficult task. Unless they've dedicated themselves to a purpose or a person, they will find themselves lost. This might give them a gullible side, as they're so desperate for something to believe in and fight for that they could potentially side with the very much wrong person. At least Order is out of the question - the loss of autonomy is terrifying to them, and the term "family" and "mother" will instantly drive them away. They have a family and they have a mother and they never want another one ever again.
