Appearance

They’re practically an invert(ibrate) of their sister. A perfect blend of harpy and bumblebug to produce a horrible monster not even myth could’ve conjured up. It is three feet at the shoulder and six feet from the top of it’s head to the end of it’s abdomen. It’s general appearance can be described as a wasp wearing the skin of a bird. A segmented body is covered in thick coat of feathers, which thickens into a ruff on the thorax and a bird-like tail on the end of the abdomen. Its wings aren’t diaphanous, but feathered- although they do have a slight iridescent sheen. Six sturdy legs are covered in scaly armor and tipped with three sharp claws. Taking up most of their head are two huge insectoid eyes that nonetheless still have ‘pupils’- ‘pupils’ that seem to eerily track you no matter what (see praying mantises for an example). The rest of the head features a mouth full of jagged teeth, and a pair of short bee-like antenna.

Starting at it’s second cycle of age, it will grow a woody exoskeleton, starting from it’s gemstone and slowly spreading outwards. It resembles a snarling canine creature, perhaps a wolf. It is segmented in a way that only limits it’s movement slightly, but it significantly muffles its sense of touch, the wooden exoskeleton only having limited feeling and pain receptors. The wooden shell can be broken if a sufficient amount of force is applied, being easier to break on its face and on the two spots where its wings lay folded under the armor. If more than a third of the armor is damaged, it will all shed off and regrow over the course of a cycle. Otherwise, this will happen every 2-3 cycles.

Their stone is a chunk of forsterite that resembles clouded glass. It forms a rounded window on their chest, allowing viewing of their heart.

Personality

As it has two forms, it also has two personalities, changing one for the other as the occasion calls for, like one would change an outfit. Ideally these two personalities would become separate personas, each being a unique asset.

Under the mask of the wooden wolf, it is a kind healer. It will attempt to cultivate a garden of useful herbs- medicines and herbs, with maybe a more deadly specimen sprinkled in as 'deterrent.' It is respectfully distant, quietly inquisitive. It isn't exactly social, but it's amicable enough to any who approach for conversation. A perfectly adequate, unassuming guise.

When that mask shed and it's teeth bare, however, it is a predator, as its true name suggests. It very much sees The Hunt as a game, and it absolutely adores games of any kind. Scratch that- it enjoys WINNING games of any kind. Losing is a whole other story and will most likely lead to over-the-top petty revenge.
