Appearance

art by oscenavis! Imp is a colorfully chaotic creature. Size-wise, he is by far at the smaller end of his two parents' size: rather than the immense bulk of an American Alligator, Imp has a small, squat body the size of a large dog. He's more reminiscent of an ugly, grinning gargoyle than anything, with a broad, wedge-shaped head when viewed from any angle.

Remade again and again through mutations and the hands of various Masters, Imp's current form would likely be unrecognizable in terms of parentage. While his broad, grinning jaws are still very much alligator, and his huge ears, pink nose, and wings are clearly those of a bat, the rest of him has changed. Feathers (a mutation from Hydra) cover much of his body, a light tan but shimmering with pink iridescence; likewise iridescent, spotted fish-like scales and long fins (changes made by the Master Farina) decorate him, and her added long, stiff but flexible spines are dotted with bright flashes of bioluminescent color in rainbow hues. A ruff of bat's fur still rings his neck, and flat alligator scutes line his lower body. Imp now has four eyes, all of which now glow light green. Imp smells faintly floral, like someone's dipped him in flowers, a result of him aiding in restoring the Divine of Cetus.

Imp's scorpion-like tail, a mutation from Hydra (like his feathers), is capable of flipping over his back to sting something in front of him, with some torso contortion. The venom induces temporary paralysis, usually lasting several minutes but in the worst case lasting perhaps twenty.

Imp also bears a Glitch mutation: two spots of white up along his chest, near his armpits.

Tiger's Eye twists from behind each eye atop his skull, forming medium-length, slightly curled horns.

Personality

Imp was sad, for awhile, after--y'know--getting his eyes torn out by a Master's lapdog. But he found out that being depressed and moping just isn't in his nature, at least not when it's long-lasting; he's far too angry and loud. Bold, mischievous, and with a strong sense of humor, he has a nose and eye (FOUR of them, now) for trouble. Imp never knows what's best for him or where to stop, and he's definitely not the smartest Gembound out there to begin with. He'll push his limits--and those of everyone around him, virtually unable to stop himself. It's gotten him into trouble more than once, and it's liable to do so again, no matter who his target: he'll insult everyone up to and beyond the Masters of the caves.

Imp is the sort who is quite likely to die going down at the very hands of a god, cursing said god the entire time.

That said, he's loyal, and not a complete jerk; while foul-mouthed and a troublemaker, he also remembers who's been kind to him. Being blind for many cycles taught him the value of true friends, teaching him some reliance instead of pure, independent assholery. It also taught him some empathy: for once he's known what it's like to be put down at the hands of a bully, and he didn't like it one bit; he's far likely to side with the underdog in the future, instead of playing the bully on his own.

Artist's Beret A beret of iridescent 'sequins' formed of gemstone shards that seem to change hue depending on the direction of the light. A little cloth-colored button sits over its puffy main structure, with an interior rim to keep it stable. It's designed to slide over Imp's head with two holes to tighten over his horns, to keep it in place even in flight.
