Appearance

As a hatchling, Jay is a rather runty little thing. She's tiny, only as big as a newborn chihuahua. Her fur will be thin and brittle, more of a dull gray than a true black. Her gem will be the only tooth in her mouth, the others not yet having emerged. For a time, it's a dull green in color, peeking out where her front right fang will be. Her eyes will be small and squinty, a dull foam yellow in color.

As she grows into a pup, little will change. Her eyes might brighten a few shades, and her Gem might gain a blue sheen. Her teeth will budge, pushing out her gem some until it is the largest tooth in her mouth, the only non-puppy tooth. Her fur will change, becoming hard to tell whether it is grey or black. It becomes softer and longer, a bristling mane forming at her neck. Her paws are large, hinting towards how large she'll be as an adult.

[s]As an adult, she will really grow into her own. Her paws will no longer be half as oversized, instead perhaps even a bit small on her, although still large. From the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail, she will measure in at six feet, and will stand three feet at her shoulder, weighing just under a hundred pounds. She will have a great, barrel-shaped chest, enabling her to run great distances. Her fur will have darkened into a deep, pitch black, and her eyes will be a gleaming gold. Her Gem has become deadly sharp, and heavily polished, seeming to alternate between a glistening green and a bright blue, depending on how the light hits it.

Her fur is no longer a pitch black, at least completely. It is varying shades of black, with no real rhyme or reason to the changes in color. Her fur grows in clumps and patches, having a tendency to mat. It is rough and coarse to the touch, and very uneven, some patches growing much more quickly than others due to the severity of the burns on her flesh. If one were to shave her bald, they would see that her skin is crinkled, pock-marked with burns, that can be matched up to the oddities of her fur.[/s]

Having mutated, Jayberry has greatly changed. No longer is she thick and bulky, but scrawny and slim, her long fur only as long as a greyhound's. Her forelegs have lengthened a great deal, making them much longer than her hindlegs, although both have lengthened enough that she now stands three and three quarter feet at her shoulder. Her hind-paws are now more reminiscent of a big cat's, or perhaps a bear's, longer and less round. Her fore-paws are now long, with a thumb. She will never be able to sew or knit with them, but she is more than capable of tying large knots, or manipulating things.. Her claws are no longer dull, but incredibly sharp, capable of retracting, like a tiger's. Her tail is reminiscent of an otter's, thick at the base and thinning as it reaches the tip. It is incredibly long, as long as her torso, doubling her length. A pair of ram's horns curl back from behind her ears, circling them and coming to a blunt point inches from her eye. She has gained the ability to hide her tell-tale Gemtooth, able to flick her two canines back like a snake.

Personality

As a hatchling, Jayberry will be fairly innocent. She won't comprehend that the creatures she is killing for food are alive, or sentient, seeing them as little more than moving plants, a part of the scenery. This often results in her torturing them without meaning to, chasing them for hours or playing with them, tossing them up into the air and attempting to catch them in her teeth. She will have a rather strong Pack instinct, causing her to want to stick closely to her adopted family. Not knowing otherwise, she will gladly participate in her 'mother's' brand of fun, helping the best she can.

When the young ones hatch, she will be an extremely protective older sister, often following them if they leave the nest, snarling at anyone who she perceives as threatening them. Once she grows larger than Blackberry, this protective instinct will transfer to her, as well.

After she finishes growing, she will have undergone a drastic transformation. No longer is she some innocent, naive little pup who just wants to have fun. She has become a quick-thinking, bloodthirsty wolf. She doesn't make friends easily, but when she does, they become a part of her Pack, and she becomes extremely protective of them, as well, to the point of snapping at them if she thinks they're putting themself in danger.
