Appearance

The wolverine is a solitary carnivore of the cold northern regions. Built stocky and low to the ground, yet known to be a ferocious predator, able to take down prey many times its size. It may resemble a badger or a fisher, but it is larger then its mustelid cousins, nearly the size of a medium dog. Jenani themselves will reach around 100 cm (about 3.3 feet) in body length and will stand 45 cm (about 1.5 feet) at the shoulder. Confidence oozes from every pore, every strand of oily hair, and they stand tall and proud - not intimidating or imposing, but they know their strengths and their posture makes it plainly obvious.

The fur of a wolverine is unique - each strand is highly hydrophobic, similar to the feathers of a duck, able to resist frost and survive with the barest shelters in harsh conditions. They lay thick over their elongated bodies - a warm dark brown in color, darkest over its back, with a lighter streak at the back of its body running across its flank. The short legs, chest, and face are covered with nearly black fur, sometimes speckled with that lighter brown, but Jenani lacks these flecks of color. Each paw has five toes each, almost symmetrically aligned around the pad. Each toe also had a short, strong claw that allows the wolverine to clamber over most dangerous terrain with relative ease. While they're more suited to gripping then killing, the claws are still sharp and, besides, one would probably be more concerned with the wolverine's powerful jaws. They are made to be difficult prey, with their natural weapons as well as their thick coats, making it especially difficult to reach the skin underneath, which, itself, is quite thick and insulating.

Jenani bears all these traits of the wolverine - while not the largest of natural predators, they are one of its fiercest. Bright violet eyes are what marks it as something different then its earthly brethren, as well as the gleaming piece of rounded tiger's eye - the stone of inner strength and protection - peering out from beneath the thick fur of its throat, almost like a pendant.

Personality

Jenani, currently, is young. Fresh. New. Children are shaped by experiences - the people they meet, the pain they endure, the joy they feel. One that has just hatched is only driven by a need to survive and learn. Jenani will grow, of course. Their life, hopefully, will be long and they will fill in the blanks as they go.

However, there are still a few lines written deep into their code that they will display even from this fresh, young age. First, Jenani is inherently good. They are empathetic enough to not cause trouble, kind enough to help others, and friendly enough to approach and be approached. Second, they are incredibly stubborn. It is either their way or the high way. Once they have their eyes on a path, they will walk it to the end, no matter who or what tries to hold them back. Third, they value strength. Strength of body and mind equally, but others may see it more so as physical prowess. They enjoy games testing raw power and nerve and will hold these values perhaps higher then others in many cases. Their judgement of others is often based on the other's strength, physical and mental. These values sometimes cause Jenani to be very straightforward in their thinking and actions, perhaps predictable, but steadfast and grounded, much like the magic they carry.
