By far one of the smallest and most insignificant creatures to hatch within the caves, and not likely to survive for too long despite the warning inherent to its aposematic flesh. From the middle of their body and back across their zig-zagging legs is a black-and-gray pattern that vaguely resembles oil on water (sort of like a lava lamp), while their shoulders and head are colored a vivacious crimson. The danger of touching this creature is evidenced by the warning pattern but there is no evidence to support high toxicity at this time; some dart frogs secrete alkaloid toxins which form as a byproduct of their arthropodal diet, and depending on changes in this diet the poison can change composition, becoming medicinal. One such chemical - epibatidine - is exceptionally strong, being two-hundred times as potent as morphine. Any useful dosage of such a substance would be close to fatal. Most commonly the secretions cause gatrointestinal side effects which range from: muscle relaxants, heart stimulation, or appetite suppression. Julia/Julian's stone is located on their forehead where it sits in place of a "third eye", although it is small enough to be dismissed as a spinel-colored marking like the rest of their pattern.

MUTATIONS: (1) They would emerge at the natural (very small) size of their species, except the mutation makes them bipedal. They can ambulate while upright, they can utilize their digits in the form of three-fingered hands, and are for all intents and purposes an anthropomorphic frog. (2) The markings as described earlier actually do shift within the skin, giving the impression of an ink-blot test, or a lava lamp as previously described, and appear to shift at random - especially so when the creature utilizes their stone's inherent magicka.

Some gemlings hatch without the knowledge of those that came before them and must learn to walk, to talk, and to commune with the magical forces of the caves. This particular gembound is quick on the uptake. She accrues knowledge hastily and utilizes it as best she can as fast as she can, and has a very serious (almost scholarly) approach to the dangerous world she is born in to. She wants to know everything, to go everywhere, and master the magic she is imbued with. Their tenacity will not be subdued. They will do whatever it takes to strengthen their understanding of the supernatural world - always willing to make the requisite sacrifice if it grants them that extra clue, that new spell, or the favor of those with greater strength than herself, so that she may know it all. Julia/Julian can be demanding of those they come across, spiteful, bitter, and antagonistic, but more often than not they will keep to themselves unless there is something they want. They aspire to know the caves on an esoteric level, utterly obsessed with their studies of resident flora and possible uses. One day if they manage to obtain the knowledge they want, they wish to become an apothecary - aspiring to become the resident go-to for all medical, toxicological, and magical aid.
