Appearance

Kalama is a brahma chick, large even as a baby. Her down is a charcoal grey, fading into pale yellow at her head. Her legs are muscular and covered with the same dark down as the rest of her. Her eyes are black and flecked with firey spots of orange and yellow that seem to glow when she gets angry, and her pupil is a blazing orange.

Her beak and legs are a pale rose gold that will darken with age. Oddly enough, despite being both female and a baby at that, Kalama has sickle shaped spurs on her back legs, too large for the chick to walk comfortably with. The left one is her stone, made of flint, and she strikes them against rocks to create sparks to intimidate others.

Upon reaching 4 cycles of age Kalama will become a massive beast, standing at a good 2.7 feet tall. Physically she will resemble a rooster, robust and bulky for a hen. Her newly molted feathers will darken to shiny black, and her head will be a bright orange, fading into black in streaks. Around her head she will have a small reddish comb, and her beak and legs will darken to a dull brownish yellow. Her legs will be smothered in feathers thick enough to nearly cover her spurs.

Post mutation, Kalama is a full inch taller than previously. A twin pair of long, feather antennae sandwich her comb. The comb itself has changed too, growing more pointed at the ends. Inside her beak is a set of sharp cone teeth. A pair juts from the bottom of her beak, just at the starting point of her mouth. Her wings have grown a trio of raptor-like fingers, which she can twitch and use at will. Kalama lacks grip strength unless using both her hands in tandem. The mutation extends further, and the innermost toes on her feet have shifted to house raptor-like sickle claws. The mutation ends with her tail, which has grown long and stiff. She can flick and emote with it, but it is about as flexible as a dinosaur's tail.

Personality

Kalama is far from the average brahma. She is loud, brash, and with a firey temper to boot. Many things can drive her into a rage, and the list of things that wont are far fewer. Her competitive streak is almost as firey as her temper. Her pride is easily wounded, she hates feeling below or worse than someone, which just gives her more of a drive to fight them.

She resents feeling intimidated or fearful of something or someone just as much. Her first instinct when she is afraid of something is to run it down and pummel it until it isn't scary. She hates feeling weak or exposing weakness, and it will take an extremely close friend for her to ever admit her flaws or weaknesses. If someone refuses to fight her, she takes that as a challenge in and of itself. She lacks patience and often throws herself into situations mindlessly. Her self preservation instinct seems to have been shut off the moment she hatched.

She is still a chicken, though, and will agressively brood over anything smaller than her or that she deems unable to defend itself, even if the thing she deems defenseless is three times the size of her. If anyone so much as looks at the subjects of her brooding the wrong way, she will launch herself at them guns blazing. For those that can tolerate this chicken's explosive attitude and relentless nature, they will find that she is loyal to a fault and soft on those she likes. Betrayl hurts her deeply. More than she would ever care to admit.

History

Cycle one: Kalama is born in within Eridanus. The chick quickly figures out how to work her Flint stone spur, and then gets into a one sided battle with a bee. Meets Ayr. Whilst spectating the Olympics, Kalama sees Eythan fight, and accosts the gryphon, doing her best to get him to mentor her.
