Appearance

As with most whitetail deer, Karma is slenderly built with caramel colored fur, slight limbs tapering to small cloven hooves, and a short tail. Her bright eyes, a soft liquid violet, are set in a feminine face with a small, black snout. She has white patches under her jaw and at her throat, as well as on her rump and in a ring above her snout. Ultimately, most aspects of her body convey a sort gentleness and fragility that perhaps should be expected more from flight animals- it’s made very clear that she has no intention of starting a fight, and the expression on that petite face often corroborates that notion. As this is the first cycle of her existence, she has a fawn’s delicate white spots patterned onto her fur and stands merely about 24” tall.

None of this out of the ordinary, really, for most animals of her species. What is perhaps most unusual about Karma, however, is the appearance of her antler- not only are antlers unusual for a female of her kind, and much less frequently do they adorn the head of deer young enough to still have spots, but she emerged from her chrysalis with a single, fully formed 3-point antler of a most unusual appearance. This lone antler is comprised not of bone, but of glittering tanzanite, sprouting from the right side of her skull. When this antler catches the light, it is somewhat transparent, though there is an opaque quality to its core that could indicate bone or perhaps simply the thickness of the stone. A small hairless patch, flush with her skin, is present opposite the gemstone antler, perhaps indicating that one will grow to match the glittering one as she ages.

Personality

At first glance, Karma appears to be a gentle soul befitting her appearance. She speaks softly, becomes uncomfortable in crowded areas, and will gladly linger at the fringes of society if she doesn’t feel obliged to become otherwise involved. She is a little friendlier in more private interactions, and can come across as bubbly, ditzy, and perhaps a bit naïve.

Still, don’t let her outward demeanor fool you. She becomes fiercely protective of those she cares about and prides herself on being a friend to those in need. This can be problematic and terribly conflicting to her later, as even when her anger is justified, she will later be wrought with guilt for losing her temper. Karma firmly believes that every action has the potential to change the course of history, and this leads her to exercise sometimes excessive caution when asked to make decisions. Further, there lingers a darkness beneath her sweet exterior that eats at her, causing her to doubt herself and her relationship with the world around her. While these feelings are never turned loose from their cage inside Karma’s mind, they do all they can from their prison to make her anxious and self-conscious. The minor demons of inner monologue make her hesitant to bond with others on more than a superficial level, lead her to seek out frequent attention and affirmation, and limit the way that she views herself and her abilities- but she will always continue to try.
