Appearance

Emerging into the Caves, Kesil is distinctly new: pale in flesh; covered in soft down; sprouting the beginnings of quills. It is immediately obvious that they are not one of the regular denizens, but a strange amalgam that resembles what is known to be an eastern dragon. Perhaps a little more avian than usual, what with the bare limbs, upper beak, and gliding wings. As a newborn, their size is only a shadow of what will be—nine inches at the shoulder, two feet long and weighing just 5 pounds. Just like a very long dachshund.

At all stages of life, they will resemble a turkish van in appearance, pale white fur-and-down splotched in lavender around the head and tail. A mane of feathers run down the length of their spine, empyrean where there are openings. Kesil’s tail is tipped in a fan partially composed of their gem, which mocks three feathers. Their wings will find little use other than to glide from ledge to ledge, difficulty increasing as they grow and their feathers do not. It is thanks to magicka that they will be able to fly.

Amalgamated as they are, Kesil will be able to eat and digest just about anything. No, like, really. This kid can eat anything that’s edible plus bones. They like throwing bones to break them. They have a strong preference to bones. It’s fun breaking them.

Personality

Just as any child would be, Kesil is curious and eager to learn about the world. The world is their oyster and they are sure as heck going to explore it before settling down in their home. Consequences won’t be known and they will have a rebellious streak the moment they get bored of Canis. So what if their dad doesn’t think the Caves is safe for a tiny noodle like them? He can worry his butt off while Kesil slips right under his nose and onto the other side of the caves. That’s where all of the friends are, they’ll claim. It’s really a matter of sightseeing. Seeya, Dad.

All communication is done via various squawks and squeals with absolutely no volume control—Kesil is deaf. They will not live in a silent world, but find a way otherwise. Gembound are adaptable and the hybrid is no different. As cycles progress, they will develop sort of a cave sign language to communicate more than body language could dream of doing.

Shifting back to the point of exploration, they are a social butterfly, eager to trod right up to a stranger because, again, they don’t know any better. You could politely ask them to shimmy on into a sewer for a paper boat and they’d cannonball in. If they do learn what consequences are, Kesil will settle down and become far more withdrawn. More reserved.
