Appearance

His form is mostly comprised of the body and plumage of a sulmtaler rooster, complete with large, iridescent tail, saddle feathers and long hackle tails around his neck. However he has also inherited a deer-like head from his life-giver, including a set of antlers upon the crown of his head, and the pale speckles across his body. His stone contrasts against the navy blue plumage of his back, and is a banded orange sardonyx approximately 20cm long, with a roughly circular shape.
    He will grow to almost a metre tall at the top of his head as an adult (not including antlers), and will weigh about 8kg when he is fully grown. Most of this weight comes from his antlers and make him too heavy to fly effectively, being a little over twice the usual weight of a rooster. He is, however, able to glide down short drops, making his descents slightly easier and less taxing on his joints.
    His feet and legs are a strange hybrid between those of a chicken and those of a deer -- they appear as elongated hooves with 4 digits: 3 cervid-like toes with claws, including a middle pair that carry most of the weight; and a single rooster-like sickle-shaped dewclaw on the medial surface.

Personality

Child: Cautious and quiet, Varik does not charge headfirst into anything. He tends to stick close to his parents and siblings, and dares not venture far from home on his own. He does not expect much from his company, happy just to sit in silence without reaching for meaningful interaction, as long as it means he is not on his own. If he is spoken to, however, he is inclined to natter on. His clinginess can be overwhelming at times, and he will learn with time to give others the space they need when they need it. Initially loathe to venture far from and out of his comfort zone, he will become more adventurous as he begins to explore at the insistence of Tahi-shei.
Adult: As he grows older, Varik gains a sense of confidence and vanity, thanks to his showy tail and iridescent feathers. He can be boastful and aloof at times, and can be oblivious to his effect on others. However, like his parents, he has a kind nature at heart, and means to do well by his peers, even if at other times he can rub them the wrong way. He can still be pushy with his companionship as an adult, although he is more selective with who speaks and spends time with, and is more reserved in conversation.
