Appearance

As a newborn Kimen is large for his species. Despite being so young, his body is hefty and brawny rather than carrying the pudge that red pandas are typically known for. His coat of ginger tones takes some time to grow in, although the dark swatches on his ventral side (ranging across his limbs, belly, and throat) are quick to take up their place. His face is characterized by the typical white patterns of his species, along with black cheeks and a very strong crimson-cinnamon coat everywhere else. As a fully grown Red Panda, his growth spurt ends with him being fifty inches long from head to toe, approximately the size of a large house cat with a seemingly endless tail.

Similarly to his maturing body, Kimen's stone has always been growing out of his left shoulder and have effectively limited his use of the corresponding arm. Despite the limitation he does his best to navigate the world with three fully functioning limbs, and doesn't let the hindrance bother him too much. Of course, having it pointed out to him as a weakness or some such nonsense will ignite his ire; however, with practice he has mastered maneuvering throughout the caves regardless of the stone's placement. Recently, he's begun trying to find ways to carve the stone down to a more manageable size, but there is no telling how damaging that will be for him.

Personality

Kimen has always had a fiery personality, especially if someone tries to control his behavior or correct something he has said. He dislikes being told he is wrong and will lash out accordingly, often getting himself into arguments with other gemlings (regardless of who is in the right at the time). He does not like change, especially if the chance comes as a direct result of his behavior, as he sees that as more of a correction than anything else - and as he isn't willing to let his opinions change for anyone, his resistance is oftentimes detrimental to his friendships. He will argue his beliefs until he's blue in the face, and doesn't care if his opinions hurt others.

That said, Kimen is very group-oriented; this comes as a surprise since most red pandas are solitary individuals (as well as being incredibly passive). He is more than happy to be the voice of encouragement and support among a group of gemlings, but he is hasty to cast aside anyone that doesn't fit in well with the group dynamic, whether that is because they do not carry their own weight or they merely don't get along well with him. He isn't interested in anyone's personal problems and doesn't put forth the effort in aiding anyone with incredibly dramatic issues. In Kimen's mind, personal issues are just that - personal. Deal with them in your own time and not when you're trying to complete an important task.

Through his development in the caves, most of this remains true for Kimen. He is still very task-oriented and somewhat obsessive when it comes to the survival of the gembounds, but he has since learned that groups are oftentimes too frustrating to be of use to him. He's developed in to more of a lone-wolf sort of creature; although there are some beings he still depends on, he is acutely aware of the limitations that manifest when you put your faith in others. His withdrawal into himself has led Kimen into a lonely life somewhere within the caves, and only recently did he decide to try again at the whole "friendship" thing.
