Appearance

Lakshmi`s groomed grey pelt is her pride and joy - tinged with russet highlights, her slender torso and lean limbs can blend into the very cave walls. Her white underparts, while inconvenient, can be hidden away relatively easily - mammals hide their underparts and necks on instinct. Her tail, however, is a different matter. Like her Earthern brethren, Lakshmi is the proud owner of - almost - 26 sleek black and white bands, longer than her own delicate body. Almost, because the white stripe at the base of this magnificent, bushy affair is replaced by a white star sapphire, visible but appearing broken by the muscle across parts of it. As a result, Lakshmi is even more protective of her tail than her cousins on Earth - but her Life Stone restricts her control over the tail. It sometimes acts against her will, a spasm brought on by the obstruction where ligaments should be, but she still grooms it as lovingly and frequently as any other lemur. The presence of the Life Stone calms her even more than the grooming itself. Lakshmi`s white, heart-shaped face boasts a dark muzzle and a moist nose. Smell is the most important sense for a lemur like Lakshmi, but her tiger-orange eyes - inquisitive orbs in her narrow, gentle face - outshine the gently quivering nose. Her willowy limbs have soft, leathery pads and soles as well as semi-dexterous fingers and human like nails. Lakshmi`s hind limbs are longer than her front, and have a special claw for grooming purposes. She also has a tooth comb (horizontal teeth) to help her stay as sleek and clean as Lakshmi is.

Personality

A born peacemaker, Lakshmi thrives on the good in the world - that is to say, in the cave. As a female, she is naturally dominant among her own species (much like ringtails on Earth), but with regard to interspecies communication Lakshmi is regarded as at best shy. Her unblinking, rust-orange eyes unsettle some Gembounds (not that they`ve ever seen rust) and Lakshmi finds it hard to make the acquaintance of most. This physically suits an (essentially) edible, herbivorous animal like Lakshmi, but lemurs are social animals and loneliness sets in unless she looks outwards at the good she can observe. As well as "lucky omen", Lakshmi means to observe - and Lakshmi observes everything from the luscious plants that flourish in the South-East Quadrant of the Origin Cave. The pervading loneliness and overwhelming wonder of being Lakshmi generally cancel each other out and allow Lakshmi to live as she should - relaxed and carefree. When not foraging or sleeping, Lakshmi practices the art of Arcane Magic in her quest to find herself. Despite the obvious choice of Animal Magic, Lakshmi prefers the whisper of the arcane to the violence of the wild. Like Earthern lemurs, she "basks" (facing the sun in the lotus position, with hind limbs extended outwards) towards the glass lanterns as a form of meditation, which calms her as she smiles out at the world...
