Appearance

⦔⦒ SKITTERING VOODOO WALK ⦑⦓

An oversized Phantom Biter: essentially a gray and fuzzy tarantula some four and a half feet broad (including the legs), standing perhaps a foot and a half tall when resting on the ground, or two feet when more upright.

As a Phantom Biter, Legba has several interesting traits. First, his eyes--six in number--are a dimly-glowing, ghostly white. Second, his bristly hairs will camouflage fairly well to his surroundings--nothing particularly detailed, but to match the general color and shade. And third, his venom, if ingested or injected, will cause intense hallucinations. This venom--despite the startling strength behind his jaws--is otherwise totally harmless.

⦔⦒ SMOOTH VOODOO TALK ⦑⦓

He moves smoothly, but mechanically, as spiders tend to, almost hydraulic in the coordinated twitch-steps that he takes. His voice is surprisingly deep, smooth and resonant, and it may perhaps be startling to hear a spider, too, break out into song.

Legba's gemstone is a deep black and blue Dumortierite, not unlike a night sky mottled by clouds, in appearance; this creates a point tipping his left, frontmost leg, and he'll often tap it on the ground for emphasis while he speaks. Legba's bristles have a dye magically affixed to his limbs and carapace: a hard, bone-like paint in the shape of bones down his legs and a skull on his face: bones he doesn't actually have.

Personality

⦔⦒ DARK VOODOO SMILE ⦑⦓

Legba is most comfortable in the swamp of Cetus or similar dark, damp places, tapping into and perfecting his fungal magic. The concept of gateways fascinates him, and he identifies strongly with the concept of liminal spaces: the points between life and death, waking and sleeping, and more. These points, and the concept of dreaming as the connection between them all, are his obsession.

Using his magic and his own venom, and perhaps some alchemy to mix the two, Legba freely offers advice and "dreaming" of a different sort to any who ask. Enlightenment, in his six eyes, can sometimes use a little push. Why he offers others his questionable advice is uncertain: is it helpful friendliness, or something more underhanded..?

⦔⦒ SLICK VOODOO GUILE ⦑⦓

Legba is a cheerful, interested soul who never stops smiling. ...Figuratively-speaking. He is deeply, often darkly, humorous, but likely good-natured beyond the black jokes and questionable implications, though it may be hard to tell. He has an artist's dramatic flair, bordering on the ridiculous, and while he is quite interested in esoteric magic and philosophy, he tends to dress it up in flamboyant trappings.
