Appearance

As a cub, Mongo looks very different from how he'll be as an adult. Like any other young Fossa, his fur is white, having yet to darken to its proper shade. He is rather small, like a young rat. His eyes are sealed, hiding their color as well as his gem, a Black Opal. His gem replaces his left eye, leaving him blind on that side. He is tiny, resembling a mix between a coyote pup and a weasel kit. His fur is short but shaggy, very soft. 

As he ages, his fur gradually darkens into a rich brown color. The color darkens some around his face and legs, with a thin line of the color running up the middle of his skull. His fur remains soft, but not as thick, although it's still shaggy. His ears are small and round, with a notch in the tip of fun. His eyes unseal, revealing a single, dark brown eye. His left eye is a round, Black Opal, grey in color and incandescent, sparkling every color when the light hits it. He is mostly body, with very short legs that allow him to easily climb. His tail is thick and long, like an otters, almost as long as he is. He has whiskers protruding from a purple-black nose, poking out with little rhyme or reason.

Mongo's few cycles haven't been kind to him. His face is completely devoid of fur, the flesh burnt down to his neck. His ears are no longer perfectly round, but heavily singed, with bits having been burnt off entirely. He bears a ragged looking scar from the very center of his forehead, carving down across the bridge of his nose, and going under his right eye. It curls up, stopping only centimeters from the eye.

Mutation: Quillmouse - the Gembound's back and flank will be covered in long, stiffly-flexible spines. These are easily shed on impact to impale attackers, and are extremely difficult to remove, working their way deeper over time.

Personality

Mongo is most definitely a rough little thing. As a cub, despite being small and not much of a threat, he constantly tries to get other Gembounds to fight with him, whether he is greatly outclassed or not. He'd even take on an elephant if he found one. Unfortunately, he doesn't tend to learn from his defeats, instead attempting to challenge his ex-opponents to rematches. He is rather hot headed, challenging almost anyone to a fight for the weakest of reasons.

As he ages, he mellows out. This doesn't mean he doesn't love to fight, he still does, but he isn't so quick to challenge someone to a spar, or so insistent about it. He tries to learn from his defeats, as well as his wins, applying them to his life, as well as his other fights. Although he is still hot-headed, he has cooled down some, able to let things roll off of his back that would have incensed him before. However, he is still protective, and very proud, and he doesn't take well to being put down or offended, and double so if someone does the same to those he cares for.
