Appearance

He is a typical lion, not much standing out upon first glance. His fur is a deep golden color, lighter along his underbelly and darker on his ears and some parts of his face and flank. His mane is a light gold, darkening to a near black along the bottom, the same color being found on his tail tuft. His eyes are a luminous orange with yellow ringed around the pupils, the glow emitting from them making for an intimidating, though not very stealthy appearance.

He is about 3.6 feet at the shoulder and about 6 feet long nosetip to tailtip. He is muscular, but not very bulky at all. His mane is thinner and smaller than the average lion’s- good for bearing the hotter caves, but definitely not quite as impressive. He’ll often hold himself to look bigger and more impressive than he really is- though, being a lion, he already is quite large in the first place.

His gemstone is a chunk of howlite, white with grey mottled through like clouds, or a darken spider web. It sits proud upon his forehead in a pointed oval, almost like a third, blinded eye.

None yet, but with that attitude of his he is sure to earn some eventually.

Personality

Melinoe is quiet and polite. Spoken words are tactfully chosen, and he specializes in the sort of ‘civilized insults’ one might expect to hear from a noble at a ball. Compliments are used only for flattery, and are rarely if ever meant. Really, though, he doesn’t speak all that much. Instead, he watches- and judges.

That is, until he can afford to be loud.

When alone, or when he is sure any watching would see his actions as justified, he is a force to be reckoned with. He isn’t murderous, but an aggressive streak and desire to show off do not play well. Games of cat and mouse can drag on, until he either gets bored, begins to lose, or someone interferes. Melinoe is not one to play fair- he only wants to win.

Friendliness and respect is a privilege to be earned, typically through combat or otherwise impressing him. He can be genuinely nice- though he is equally likely to simply bicker. It’ll take someone (likely quite literally) knocking some humility into him for this to change.

What’s his is his and he’ll protect it with a ferocity usually reserved for silently scolding those within his own inner monologue. Those looking to steal whatever he ends up claiming as his better be willing to fight, because a fight is exactly what they’ll get.
