Appearance

Menkheperre is a massive, noble-seeming beast who holds his head high. He is dressed in rich mocha hide and golden finery. The most apt word to describe him is dragon.

A sighthound-esque figure makes up for the limitations of a cave with no sky (though Leo and Orion's ceiling heights aren't anything to scoff at...); six legs are well-equipped to carry his slender, slim-chested form across the ground. Glowing cyan claws—maintained to a pleasant bluntness at their ends despite their length by the amount of walking and running he does—cling easily to any surface, and dexterous thumbs manage to not get in the way or stomped on. On a good day, he can outpace a greyhound, reaching a top speed of 50 miles per hour and being able to sustain it for several minutes. He is prone to overheating, though.

Piercing red eyes stand in stark contrast to turquoise eyeshadow, gums, and glittering undersides. What could be considered their waterlines are edged in a hard, black ridge uncannily resembling winged eyeliner. Catlike pupils take a strange, over-reflective gold color matching the ridges just above them, as well as the curving halo-horns and protrusions along his cheeks.

Two pairs of wings—the undersides of which resemble a butterfly's patterning—lead him in a songbird's swooping, heartbeat flight. The larger set begins at his shoulders, and they provide most of the lift; the smaller begin at his hips, and provide more subtle turning ability and precision flight. Five sets of fins line his overly long tail like rudders. Once he hits the air, his flight is smooth and quick, but far from powerful or sustained. As such, Menkheperre will definitely develop a preference for being on the ground.

Like many of the stranger denizens of the cave, Menkheperre has his more trivial features. Sticking out from turquoise gums are two rows of teeth. The outer row has a caniforme structure, albeit with nothing but pointed incisors, whereas the inner row is backwards-facing hooks. A venom gland sits just beneath the barbed tongue, which can be used to puncture the skin of prey and paralyze the muscle cluster there. At the opposite end—the furred tip of his tail—there lies another venom gland, administered via a serrated turquoise point. This venom is essentially the same, though markedly less potent; the puncture wound sustained by being stabbed by it would be your greater concern.

Additionally, his hide is three-fold. The top half of it is essentially nothing but coarse, beige hairs with golden roots. Along his skull, neck, shoulders, elbows, rear, tail's end are hard, keratinous plates edged in gold. His flanks host a snake-like leather quality to them, as well as his tender underbelly.

Each gold and turquoise accent—and glowing eye—is bioluminescent at will (because no creature is complete without it...) Extreme or otherwise heightened emotional states will cause these markings to glow as well.

Personality

Now, for an anticlimactically short treatise on Menkheperre's demeanor:

You would sooner find his snout buried in the pages of a book than standing amid a party just for fun. It is nothing but common that he seeks and craves knowledge and stories; and it is not just his hard-wired purpose that demands this. A natural curiosity—bred by the presence of so much to learn and read about—easily grows and blooms into an intensely studious mind.

Of course, though, this draconic beast will be nothing but polite as he requests knowledge from you; and, of course, as he offers his own in return. There is no know-it-all smart aleck to be found here.

It should be noted that he bears little to no tolerance for the ignorant. Bias is present in all of life's things—such is the miracle of having one's own methods of perceiving the world—but to deliberately misinform, misjudge, misinterpret for the sake of censorship? An unforgivable sin in the eyes of a scholar.

... though, you might receive only a few pointed words as a response. Menkheperre, for all his magic and practice, for all that is written into him as a self-designated guardian of knowledge and stories, is not the violent sort.
