Appearance
Glaciem has claimed him. Pried all warmth from him. Where there would be summer, there is only winter. Thick snow is draped about his form, standard and undeniably average. Scales tip at 420 lbs and rulers reach 3' 8". Atop his crown are small horns, dull-pointed and shimmering in the long-forgotten moonset.

Many folk are defined by their behaviors, their character displayed through the minute subtleties. Weary blue eyes are placid oceans, brows laid in peaceful rest. His gait lacks the hurried pace of youth and the arthritic lag of age. All there is to indicate just how many cycles he has lived through is the world-weary sag of shoulders and the sway of his back.

It is as if aggression has never been known, submission never offered. The case would be if there weren't age-old scars marring porcelain flesh. Mercurius is a man defined by time, lost in its wiles. Wandering the ever-shifting sands of the hourglass.

Personality
He is tired. World-weary. One lost in the frequent lull of the caves. Wandering empty tunnels in the labyrinth, seeking the companions who once ran amok. For many cycles, he has only found friends in the dust, grains dancing up to meet him as an old friend. He knows the caves like he knows the matrices of his being. Let it be known that Mercurius isn't searching desperately for friendship and camaraderie; he is searching for meaning.

The meaning he lost after the fall of the stag king Hasira. He wants to be the pacifist, the healer, the guiding hand. But how will he, if there is nobody to act upon?

His voice is rough, soft, withheld. Unused except for the passing words to the rock he has passed for the hundredth time, the millionth time. Those who find use in his words often find that Mercurius will not speak of the past---only now. He is tentative in his sentences, anxious interrogatives flitting from between inky lips. There's a deep-rooted desire to help and preserve, but there's also a festering wound in his core that begs for distrust. Uncertain steps in and away from the direction of suffering.

He misses her, all of the good purity in the world. He's been trying to tell stories like she once did. Trying to find what she was. Not what she became. He's given up on trying to spread good will absolutely everywhere. There's too much cruelty to dispel. All he can do is try to tell tales of the good times. Mercurius won't mention the darkness. He'll try to shelter the youth emerging after the lull.

History
Long ago, he emerged to the sight of the grief-stricken red Hasira. And thus began the bastard's reign of terror.

A white doe, Clover (she's dead, it took her, he later found) took him from the star-lit room. She left him to tend to the garden.

Without her, he found little worth in tending to the garden, dissipating into the woodwork 'til the eve of his 28th cycle.
