He emerges from the rifts like a black kraken, slick with ichorous wealth and oceanic kith — but what epithet is that for a wild creature, whose untamed heart beats between nigh impossibilities? To simplify is to slight... yet to capture would take a recklessness that is greater than his exotic own. No, even beauty is too tame a notion. It evokes only views of shaken manes, tumbling over glossily possessed limbs and clotted, trembling eyes. In sooth, perhaps no mere delineation would do him justice. It would take his full, shifting expanse, the intensity of his movements, the murmur of his life's breath beneath your touch, to offer you your mercurial fix. For he is a beast born to converge, body and soul and shadow, (shore and tide and trench), a sight of damp shifts and pleasures, and no expression could pull forth the visceral cries he'd force to keen through your throat. Is it any wonder that one can be so devoted? for even among the sea and the rock he is a spoil, and his mortal riches present nothing but the opulence of a soul at his own alter. One must view his rests, his works, must witness the languid sprawl of offerings he bares towards the earth's great horde if they would want to see him at all — the spread of spine against a vast distance, culminating in an indolent spillage of tail, and the treasures troved beneath: dark swathe draped over cooled pulp, oft dripping reverently with waters, that touch the farthest reaches of his limbs; bone, finely chiseled, from leg to rib to skull; three obsidian pillars, born of cavern hall, sit spiked beneath the overflow of upper crest hair, and beneath the skin that holds each tendril in its embrace. O! but these gifts are nothing in comparison to his ardent visage, the praises which are scarcely uttered on his ethereal tongue, and passed through excruciating teeth. To glimpse at his countenance is to see a paramour of pitch itself, twitching, wet, and exalted, the blue gaslight of his eyes (gaze apologetic) merely accent pieces to the fullness of his murmured hymns. And so, you understand, few words could satisfy the weight of an experience, the breathless paradox of his low-born magnificence in the flesh. Suffice it to say that it would break your heart to see him; and it would mend what was broken in the same moment; and you would be twice what you’d been before.
