Appearance

Adult/General Appearance

Looking like some kind of cross between a tiny cheetah, and a raccoon, Mjadhi is quite the mixture. He is, in fact, a civet — an African Civet, to be precise, which is the largest of all current subspecies. In terms of coloration and fur pattern, he looks almost cheetah-like. His fur is a light yellow, with a cream face and a white belly and underside of the tail. Black is the other prominent color, comprised on his body as neck and rump stripes, cheetah-like spots all over, and completely black legs, paws, and tail-tip. He also has black rings that make their way down his tail, and a face-mask similar to a raccoon’s. His last obvious feature is what looks to be a big black stripe that runs from the base of his spine, to the tip of his tail. This is actually a dorsal crest — a stripe of hair that he can cause to become erect and puffed out when feeling threatened, to make himself look bigger. He looks to have short legs relative to his body, with his back legs being larger and more powerful than his front. His eyes are a simple dark brown, which often look black.

His Stone is a smooth and shiny piece of Hematite, with a silvery-black surface that resembles mercury. It is nestled into the fur of his left thigh (back leg).

Juvenile Appearance

When Mjadhi first emerges from his chrysalis, he does not look all that different from his adult appearance, except that he is smaller (obviously), and his yellow base color, and the white on his belly and face, are varying shades of brown, which will slowly lighten into their adult colors over time.

Personality

Cycle One

Innocent || Curious, but Guarded || Driven by Instinct

Mjadhi is just starting his adventures into the world, and has no set personality other than that projected by instinct. It takes a show of good will for him to trust another Gembound, and his guard will go right back up should his new friend attempt to harm him or in any way break his trust. At the same time, being innocent to the ways of the world, it is not inconceivable that he could be emotionally manipulated should some Gembound come along and try such a thing. He does not yet have any concept of lying, though his instincts will tingle if he feels uncomfortable with a situation.

In general, Mjadhi is driven by hunger, thirst, and sleep. His Earth cousins are mostly nocturnal, but since there is no day-night cycle in the Origin Cave, he will quickly learn to listen to his internal clock to tell him when it is time to rest and when it is time to rise. As a kitten (civets are sometimes called “civet cats”), Mjadhi is curious about the world around him — though his curiosity has mostly to do with what he can and cannot eat. Since most of his time is either spent hunting, eating, or sleeping, he doesn’t have much time to be curious about things other than food. This may change with time, and the influences of aging and/or other Gembounds.

History

Cycle One
On the day of his emergence, Mjadhi met the cat, Dovefeather. She sat patiently as he explored the world around him and spoke his first words. She told him about the All Mother and that she was a Seer for the Goddess. But at his barrage of questions, she seemed to draw into herself and flee, leaving him with some parting advice about going to seek out truths in other parts of the Cave. Taking her advice to heart, he left Eridanus to go exploring the rest of the world.

The little civet ended up in Tunnel I, and briefly encountered a Gembound named Orion. They spoke for just a few minutes before the conversation seemed to quiet down and Mjadhi left the "dog" sitting there in the tunnel to continue exploring by himself. The civet is afraid he may have hurt his new friend's feelings, but he's not too worried it about it. He hopes they will meet again.
