Appearance
As a young Gemling, Naja will not be scary at all. He will be only a handful of inches long, and only an inch in width. His scales will be an ugly pink, almost translucent, with black markings here and there. His hood is almost always in some form of arousal, although not always fully flared. His gem, a dull red-brown in color, sits perfectly in the middle of his hood, resting on his back so that it can be seen even when not flared.
As an adult, however, he will be nearly unrecognizable, and not one you would want to tangle with. From the blunt of his nose to the tip of his tail, he will measure in at thirteen feet. Most of his scales will have darkened into a brown-black color, speckled with brown-yellows. On his stomach there are patches of a gold-yellow, hence the name King Cobra. On his throat is a long stripe of gold, that continues up onto his face, finally ending at beady, black eyes. When his hood is flared, however, one can see his markings. They rather resemble eyes, or perhaps the head of an owl, each one furling out from his torso. There sit a black spot in the middle of each, as though there are pupils there, glaring at you. His black-pink tongue is constantly out, tasting the air, and he speaks with a low, dangerous [i]hisss[/i]. Personality
Naja does not have much of a personality. He relies on instinct, and bloodlust. Any thoughts are cool and calculated, and this is reflected when he speaks. Each word is carefully chosen, and spoken in an eerie monotone. The only time he feels anything other than cold indifference, is during a hunt. This leads him to want to hunt as much as he can, if only to feel something for a few heartbeats.
Over time, however, he will learn that it is not just killing that makes him feel. The suffering of others has the same effect. He enjoys nothing more than to watch other Gembounds suffer under his venom. It isn't uncommon for him to bite a Lesser Gembound just to watch them writhe in pain. Naja is always trying to find ways to make his venom more effective. Faster to kill, slower to kill, causing more pain, causing pain without killing, he will do anything to test this. To achieve this, he will keep a breeding population of cave rats once he is in an adult, allowing him to study the effects of his venom on Lessers. And he would never turn down the chance to test it out on Greater Gembounds, either. History
