Appearance

This rabbit-wolf hybrid is covered in thick, somewhat scraggly and dry, very dark brown-black fur slightly countershaded beneath with a faintly lighter shade. It stands at about twenty-four inches at the shoulder, weighing perhaps fifty to sixty pounds, and always appears to be in a very thin, nearly-emaciated shape. Its gait is somewhat uneven or wobbly, weak. A rough bloodstone gem protrudes from its sternum, making chest-down rest somewhat uncomfortable.

A wolflike muzzle, whiskered with rabbits' whiskers and tipped with a rabbit-like nose with canine nose-leather along its edges, conceals primarily wolflike teeth featuring a rabbit's curved, ever-growing incisors. A long, wolflike neck is muscularly weak, leading to a strange sag and, commonly, an aching neck. The skull is somewhere in shape between a wolf's broad, flat skull and a rabbit's rounded one; rabbit-like ears offer this creature a superb sense of hearing. Wolflike front legs end in thickly-furred rabbit's paws with long, slender claws and a total absence of paw-pads. The hunched, thin body then leads to powerful rabbit's hind legs, tipped with wolflike paws with pads. The tail is long and bushy, like a wolf's. This creature bears the instinctive ability to dig burrows and dens, and may feel more secure living within one. This creature will be omnivorous, able to eat and digest both plant and animal matter.

Due to Jayberry's injured state upon Giving Life to three gemstones, each will bear some deformities. This one is perpetually muscularly weak, appearing slender or scraggly, even emaciated; its fur is very dry and dull, along with the aching neck. Its eyes--blood red--are hazed over with blue-grey cataracts, so that its eyesight is forever dimmed.

Personality

Nettleberry is different than other Gembounds, and she knows it.

She isn't as strong as them, isn't able to see very well. Her head droops, and no matter how hard she tries she can't keep it high. Looking at her siblings, at her Mother, she can see how different their are. And it bothers her, and she aims to prove that, no matter how different they may be, she can be just as useful as them.

She is probably one of the most competitive Gembound you could possibly meet, able to turn anything into a competition. Going out to hunt bugs? Well shit, she can find more than you, she'll bet! Momma's gonna head out for a bit? She can clean up way more of the nest than you can in half the time!

Despite this, Nettleberry loves her family. She'd give her life for them, and most of her competitions will end up benefiting them in some way. Whether that's supplying them with food, or cleaning up their living space, it will usually end up helping them. Nettle is closest to her Momma by far, often found lurching around at her heels, or curled up dozing while her Momma does what she does. But it isn't uncommon to find her with her other family members, blood or otherwise, asking them what they're doing, bugging them to let her help, trailing at their heels and sleeping nearby. She has a habit of sticking close to others, her sides brushing some part of them, because of her bad eyesight, so that she doesn't get lost.
