Appearance
Nico is an average vampire bat, fur a lovely combination of various shades of brown all stained an ashy, grey-ish tint. reddish freckles spot his face, resting beneath eyes wide and full of wonder.
his voice is loud and screechy, making him sound eternally like a 12 year old boy long after 4 cycles. it might deepen slightly, but it never quite makes it past that grating sound. He carries himself with such an air of confidence that's too big for his body, wide and sweeping motions at all times, face incredibly expressive and lively despite the nature of most bats. his ears twitch in curiosity and flatten when sad, he flings him wings outward when he talks like he's delivering a speech, and he's always oh so twitchy. poor boy can't sit still! He never quite gets the hang of smooth flying, always a bit lop-sided and messy, but it gets the job done! he accrues a number of scars and scrapes from this fact, but in his head he's a graceful, perfect flier. nobody yet has had the heart to tell him otherwise. Nico--short for Nikolai--is a bat with a complex. He is certain that he's a vampire--minus the "bat." Despite his diminuitive size and less-than-imposing presence, he'll sweep around dramatically, maybe making a grand speech or thinking himself terribly seductive. He's an apex predator (in his mind) using his animal magic to bolster his ability to hide, charm or control victims and defend himself, imagining all the while that this is "vampire magic" at its best.
Even before he truly knows what a vampire even is, he's certain there something mysterious and magical about him, something spooky and charming, and he flaunts it to no end. it's cute, in a way, it's like watching a 12 year old try to convince the adults around him of his super awesome kickflip skills, he just forgot his board at home, except instead of skateboarding, its being a total badass magic vampire, his magic just isn't good enough yet! beneath all of the theatrics though, he's childish and full of wonder no matter what, a curious child and even moreso as an adult, loving to fill his sleepless nights and days with discovery and play. he loves meeting new friends, and he's incredibly extroverted, but he cares just a little too much about what people think of him. he just needs people to tell him he's worth the effort, and who are we to tell him he's not?
