Immense and serpentine. Its smooth hide is slicked with midnight oil: the dull glint of impossible colors ripple in the light. It is a body built for speed, for agility, for climbing: thirty feet long, but only four and a half feet tall, twisting and winding in its movements. It it strange to say that such a large thing scurries, but it does, in swift and darting movements, able even to cling upside-down to rough surfaces with the aid of muscled limbs and multi-thumbed claws.

It is alien; other. Its head is pronged, protrusions sweeping back to either side like horns, and it is upon these that its six eyes first appear: toxic yellow-green, a glow to them that stands out against the black. A seventh eye is visible at the back of its throat, if its jaws open wide. That glow erupts, too, from pits along its snout, from three slender gill-like structures behind its jaw along each side of its neck, and from the tips of pointed, toxic quills. These quills impart acidic agony if impacted into flesh, but form a defense mechanism more than an offense. Black and oily scales sweep back, long and stiffly sharp, like feathers from its tail-tip. Nidhogg's jaws are immensely powerful, the evolution and up-scaling of an alligator's crushing bite. Small, jagged teeth are an inheritance of its Master, Vargas.

An oily, alien gemstone of glinting sheen and rough structure juts forward like a short, hard beard from the tip of its chin.

Personality

Nidhogg was hatched a savage, primal little thing, and has hardly changed from that at all. Without the care of parents, instead growing with distracted monsters as its watchers (and never caregivers)--without close bonds with even its kinder siblings, and hatched with an innate urge toward Chaos, Nidhogg remains fierce and loud. It would be wrong to call Nidhogg stupid, though it's certainly no intellectual. It is more that what it has learned is near nothing, but its capacity for learning is great: just... nobody's taught it, yet. It isn't even non-verbal, but due to its adherence to instinctive reaction, it tends to screech and scream more often than bothering with mere words.

Its reflexes are fast, and its reactions fierce. It doesn't do much to temper them, acting exactly as it sees fit and not at all bothering to second-guess its own impulses. If it has the urge to bite someone, it will immediately do so. Nidhogg may spend time winding along a ceiling stalking a Gembound, but its attention span is questionable, at best: it may prove relentless if its attention is kept, but if something else more interesting comes along, it will at once change path as its impulse dictates. And with Nidhogg, out of sight is out of mind: it lives entirely in the present, like a feral thing, its memories only murky and its future planning nonexistent.

Nidhogg views mammals with suspicion--the softer, kinder creatures with warm blood are confusing to it. How have they survived as they are-? It suspects hidden depths of savagery. Nidhogg is prone to self-sabotage, fiercely biting off more than it can chew out of pure impulse, liable to end in bitter, furious, frustrated shame upon failure. The only real personality trait beyond "viciously impulsive" is Nidhogg's fascination with gambling, and games of chance; it is drawn inexorably to cast its lot above all else. With all that being said, Nidhogg is still not fully-grown or even old, and its experiences have been limited to the Chaos Forge: time may yet shape it to hold different viewpoints, characteristics, or interests.
