Appearance

Right out of his shell, Ogun will weigh a hefty 45 pounds and stand at two and half feet. He'll be shaky at first, but will be able to walk and explore within a few nervous hours on his own. Sparks will fly as he does so, and he might set something on fire - he doesn't mean it, not in the slightest, and if you come across a young calf hastily stamping out burning grass, approach him with a kind smile and maybe a little help. He's easily distinguishable among the pitch of the cave, not only from his warm, russet fur, but from the occasional cinder he gives off.

This calf simply radiates heat like a furnace, and when he gets older, this heat will start to warp the air around him constantly, even while asleep. His hooves will create small ignitions as he walks, and flames with lick the roof of his mouth as he speaks. Match this constant fire with a massive, two-thousand pound, eleven foot tall bison, and you have the potential for a monster.

For now though, his potential is metered with a child's conscience that fears hurting another soul. He can often be found shivering as he walks with a wild imagination if left alone for too long, and is easily brought to tears.

Personality

Ogun is born with a curse: He is born with incredibly potent fire magic that he cannot turn off.

Every time Ogun walks, a cinder flares under his hoof. When he breathes, a spark flickers to life in his throat, and when he exhales from his nose, what comes out is smoke. It isn't on purpose and not from any intention he makes; his magic is permanently in use, whether he wants it to or not. He has no idea how his magic works, has not the faintest clue of how to cast a spell, and it blatantly frightens this young gem.

Unbeknownst to him, his gem has replaced the atlas bone of his spine, the vertebrae that his skull rests upon. Perhaps being in such close proximity to his brainstem has made his affinity more active than most, perhaps it's a subconscious dilemma, he doesn't know. He just has to deal with the char in his mouth and the burn scars upon his skin.

As a young calf, Ogun's natural state of being is terrified. He has no idea what's going on, why other gems he meets doesn't have this problem, why his magic hurts him with an almost malicious intent. He doesn't know what to do, how to act, so preoccupied with keeping his fire under control that he barely has time to think about anything else.

As he matures, he could go any number of ways.

If he meets only cruel gems, he will become cruel as well, turning this pain he has to deal with alone on others.

If he meets kind-hearted gems, he will do his best to temper and master his magic to keep others from being hurt.

If he is left alone, he will result in a broken individual with more scars than flesh, having no guidance in his life.

Time will tell who he becomes.

History

Cycle One:

Ogun's chrysalis is placed precariously inside of a stalactite in Monoceros, and the nervous calf breaks it apart. He almost falls to his death, if not for the swift intervention of Totem, who catches him and places him next to Mawu, who awakens below him at the same time. Saga and Nemenstrinus come to the frightened cries of the children and take them to safety. From then on he meets Thomas and Equinox, both encounters tinged with misadventures due to his uncontrollable fire.
