Appearance

Pippin is a tiny shifting mantis, her size beginning at a half of an inch, and maxing out at about two inches at four cycles. Her form seems to mimic both that of an Amethyst crystal and a flower. The crystals start rough around the base of her thorax, growing larger and longer as they approach the end of her abdomen.

At the end, they grow outward in a kind of ring, resembling a rose or a chrysanthemum. Her pair of weird insect butt antennae(?) stretch long like a pair of stamen. Her crystals and the topside of her body are a deep, reflective purple,reminiscent of amethyst. It darkens on her lowerside, to a brownish grey, resembling the underside of a geode. Pippins limbs are reminiscent of an orchid mantis, with the middlemost parts resembling a flower petal, or a teardrop shaped amethyst.

Pippins wings are small, like little buds upon her back. She lacks the ability to fly other mantises have, but she is a skilled jumper and climber. Her head is topped by a crust of crystals, a pair larger above the eyes, making a makeshift bow. Her antennae are long and nearly translucent. Pips eyes are long and pointed at the tips. Much like orchid and dragon mantises. Pippins psuedopupils are larger than normal, giving her seemingly large puppy dog eyes. She moves as a typical mantis would, with sharp flicks of the head and swaying movements. She doesn't move much when she feels unsafe, trying to blend in with her environment. Her gemstone is a small fleck of peridot, tucked between her raptorial forelimbs.

Personality

Pippin is small, easily excitable, and all fluff. She delights in being around other gembound. Especially on top of them. Pippin enjoys the height advantage given by it. Her favorite spot is upon the head, but on gembound who's head isn't the highest spot, she will go for whatever the high point is.

Pip's movements are quick and deliberate. She takes but a few seconds to think over and decide something. She enjoys talking to other gembound, although it could be seen as ranting. Pip will sometimes decide not to kill the lessers she catches, even when hungry, but instead rant to them. She is both saddened by and confused by the fact the prey tries to escape. Pippin lacks a sense of awareness.

She can catch and spot things her size easily, mind you, but she often forgets things of greater scale than her. And has trouble comprehending them. That big fuzzy dog? If she doesn't pay attention to it for a minute, it's just a big fuzzy tree. A giant lake of water?

She'll forget its longer than she can see. When excited, Pip will often repeat her words. She doesn't like it when larger gembound scream or talk close to her face, as it is comparable to a sentient jet engine roaring in your ears. Short version: Ducky and Gortys merged
