Appearance

Energy manipulator. Vicious. Remorseless. Raspy tone with a tinkle of elk.

Size: “Monarch bull” i.e. top elk genetics. Largest sized with a full set of antlers.

Height at shoulder: 5 feet (1.5 meters)

Height with antlers: Antlers reach 4 feet (1.2 meters) above his head, giving him an appearance of 8.8 feet (2.7 meters) tall.

Weight: 1,100 lbs/499kg

The fawn is born a bundle of elk infused with large falcon wings and talons, phoenix feathers draping over his short tail and hind limbs, and an unidentifiable mass of suave feathers sprouting from his shoulders which functions as adornment. As a fawn, Rafael looks innocent and delicate, destined to steal the hearts of gembounds. Large, grey doe eyes sit upon a chiselled, slender head while white, soft, fluffy black-rimmed ears frame his features. Delicate hooves are compensated by hawk legs and talons that are sharp and sturdy from birth. His falcon wings are not fully functional for the first few days. They will remain awkwardly tucked by his sides. Also, random stray pieces of feather will stick out from his hindlegs and tail, hinting at his future glorious plumage. At this stage, his yellow falcon feet and short elk tail are clearly visible and identifiable.

As an adolescent, Rafael will start to fill in his square-ish body. While still maintaining a slender frame and exuding a gentle, oftentimes sinister aura of majesty and delicateness, the peryton’s body be sturdy and filled out with supple muscle. He will start developing a barrel chest, well-sloped shoulders and hindquarters, and be the size of an adult deer. Hints of his mane start to appear – coarse, and wavy, they protect his vitals. His pelt will darken and take on a distinctly glossy shine and short, coarse fur will be a covering for his pelt. His plumage is more visible now. A multitude of high-chroma red, orange and yellow phoenix feathers sprout along his hind legs and tail. The feathers on his tail will still have yet to grow to their full length and so appear cropped mid-way of his hawk feet.

Upon hitting Cycle 4, Rafael will be a handsome, dark-toned peryton. He bears a set of gleaming ivory antlers with 8 points on each side – under elk classification, he would be considered top-notch, a “monarch bull”. Fully maximizing the elk genetics in him, Rafael fits the profile of the largest bulls. His antlers reach 4 feet /1.2 meters above his head, so he appears of 8.8 feet/2.7 meters tall. He stands at 5 feet /1.5 meters at the shoulder and weighs 1,100lbs/499 kg. The prince will have a full plumage – his tail can just barely sweep the floor to give him the majestic flourish but not inconvenience his movements. His mane is thick and full, and his wings are fully grown out. He will constantly sharpen his hooves as an offensive/defensive mechanism.

PERSONALITY

EVIL-NEUTRAL
Unimpressed, Arrogant, Condescending : Extremely sharp and bright, few details escape Rafael’s observation. He is able to balance outward observation with inner clarity, reflecting an unusually well-composed image of a vicious prince. Quick to rationalize events happening around him, it is little wonder that the peryton remains somewhat detached and views many gembounds and events happening around him with an aloof, condescending attitude. Arrogance is deep-seated within his psyche – it does not show in bragging for he isn’t vain nor does he need the affirmation of others. Rather, it is reflected in his ego, in his understanding and trust in his own capacities that leads to an overconfidence of self which deems everyone else as insignificant flecks.

Hostile, Possessive, Vengeful : Rarely will anyone see Rafael beyond these categories. Familiarity, passion and love are concepts as yet undiscovered. Things that he wants are to be gained with false niceties and manners if only because society deems this the most acceptable manner. If such facades fall through the peryton is immediately a vicious force to be reckoned with, engaging in brawls to get what he wants with fierce possessiveness. He has a strong sense of vengeance too and this escalates into his brutal confrontations with others.

Self-Serving, Unremorseful: Family and code of honour are temporal things to him merely fuelled by common interests. Rafael serves no true master but himself, and will not hesitate to break any of those ties if there’s something better in it for himself. He is above all other creature, and he hides this behind a seemingly compassionate mask. For one, he is compassionate to bird and deer but only because he feels that he has something to gain by associating himself with them. Rafael is a peryton of no regrets and that’ the scary thing about him. He is unable to fee remorse.

Masquerader: Hinging upon his innocent, slender elk-like and herbivore looks, one would never guess that he has a pair of incisors hidden by the side of his mouth. The herbivore that revels in meat and sadistic killing – one would never guess this if he did not let on through his behaviour. Typically, he carries himself genderless/sexless like a godlike creature, shifting with elegance and perfect allure through the tunnels. Whether that is his true nature or a façade, it’s up to you to decide.

Otherworldly elegance: Perfectly cropped withers sway with alluring rhythm to curved shoulders as he moves along. Sharpened, elk hooves tinkle against the ground while hawk talons grate against the ground behind him, providing a nerve-provoking screech. Wings are carved with elegance while elk body moves with graciousness while his thick, elk mane gives him a cloak of grandeur. Dove grey eyes gaze about the world gently, seemingly wise and deep, absorbing truths of the world. This is how Rafael carries himself at all times unless he senses opportunities for self-gratification and this extends into violent, sadistic tendencies.

Sadistic and Masochistic: Sadistic and masochistic even as an adolescent, Rafael will start revealing fragments of his darker side – the bastard who carries a seemingly benevolent crown but who will dominate and enthral others to cave in to his deeper desires – and have them craving for it. Utterly possessive and dominating – many details of his adult personality will be revealed in time to come.

HISTORY

CYCLE ONE:

Rafael hatched in a lonely corner among the cliffs and spent a day or two wandering about. It was then that he cast his magic which went wrong, following which he was hurled back and crushed against the stone walls in Orion. Vazi found him and helped ease his pain, resulting in the peryton imprinting on and respecting the older deer as his saviour. Following that, Rafael has been seen loosely wandering around the tunnels, terrorising prey and revelling in his sadistic and masochistic side. Despite being but a fawn, others have come to fear and despise him. Name-calling is not uncommon with “freak bird” being a certain title which clings to him. It is not unwarranted though. The peryton has, at this tender age, murdered Silver, a greater gembound bird after failing to force feed/torture the offending creature. He also took a stark dislike to Giggle the hyena and triumphed in their fight, leaving lacerations on her face with his talons (he’d wanted to gouge her eyes out). With so much bloodshed following his infamous click-clacking movements, what will happen to this gargoyle who reflects an otherworldly aura and carries himself with elegance, allure and a perfection that seems to condescend the entire world? This “broken creation” is something to look out for and perhaps even, to revere.
