Appearance
Average size by tanuki standards, as an adult Romeo will be around 70cm from nose to tailtip, with short legs and thick, soft fur that makes him look a lot larger than he actually is, though this fur is shorter as a pup and his body shape more defined, at least until it grows out. His eyes are, and always will be, a slightly shocking shade of violet.
His gem is immediately noticeable and even disturbing. It takes the place of several ribs, fur and flesh on the front of his chest. The quartz is clear enough that one can clearly see the movement of Romeo's heart beneath as it presses against the crystal. Look even closer, and you might see the blood traveling through veins in the crystal itself. As a pup, Romeo's gem will start out as a smooth and clear window to his heart, but as the raccoon dog grows the crystal will grow more jagged and form into clusters, refracting the grotesque sight of his heart beneath. His ears stand erect and usually prick forward, appearing quite small with rounded tips and lighter fluff on the inside. His fur is mainly a darker shade of brown, with black legs, underbelly, and tail tips. His face is a paler shade of brown and his muzzle is cream, his eyes covered by black marks that connect under his chin and fade into his underbelly. Romeo moves with a waddle and this will become even more apparent as his gem grows into sharp clusters. He often finds it difficult to run, both because of his gem and because his heart can become constricted the harder it beats. Personality
From the moment of his birth, Romeo has always loved the sound of his own voice. That's the most obvious thing about him; anyone he meets will most likely be taken aback as they are suddenly bombarded by his overly-excitable, and also incredibly loud enthusiasm. Romeo is always out there to meet new things and make new friends, whether that be with the cave idiot or a predator trying to eat him. Not exactly flighty, he'd much rather talk than fight but on the other hand will not hesitate to kick in someone's face and after that regale them of every detail on why he did it.
This brings to the surface Romeo's biggest flaw. He struggles to connect to others emotionally, enjoying the experience of conversation but struggling with longer-lasting attachment. It's something that he seems to know, perhaps unconsciously, but as he grows he may feel more and more alienated, an illusion created in his own mind as he craves to know how it feels. Quite apathetically, he may close off to those he feels more attached to than others or grow more frustrated around them. Secretly, his greatest fear is falling in love. If someone were to break through the shell Romeo has built for himself, they may or may not regret it; they'll find an unexpectedly hyper individual, completely devoted beyond the point of obsession, controlling and easily hurt by the slightest misstep. But of course, it's never him that's in the wrong; he's, once again, a victim to his own apathy. As mentioned before, Romeo adores the sound of his own voice. Sometimes if there's no-one around he may talk to himself, but generally speaking, he fancies himself as a singer and will practice at every chance he gets. Though he generally does so on his own, Romeo will not protest if someone asks to hear. In fact, a proper audience is the one thing he truly craves. The tanuki is most happy(amongst other emotions... that depends on the song) when he's singing, and a duet is one of the few things which can help tap into his exposed heart... Romeo is also incredibly impulsive, and will do things without thinking as a result of a quick conversation or encouragement, especially if it's enjoyable for him. If someone questions it, well, then that's their loss. Romeo can very, very easily become obsessed with things, like collecting items of his favourite colour or pulling on people's tails. Or even, he can become obsessed by a specific train of thought or an idea he might have. He has an odd habit of tapping his claws against his gem for this reason, as he enjoys the strange feeling of it reverberating throughout his chest. History

Hatched out in Eridanus Sparred with Harper. Found a ukelele in Orion. Experiments with the Ukelele and figures out how to make music, and that different sounds go together. Discovered his passion for performance by playing in front of Fritz. Knocked out cold, and loses much of his memory. Cycle 2 |
