Appearance

Its skin is slate in color with a layer of thin black goo covering it; this coating excretes in thicker amounts after a meal, and can be very goopy and thick if the meal was large. It has a single red eye in the middle of its forehead and a short muzzle-like mouth that is very hard, almost like a beak. It has no teeth and no tongue but can change the texture of its throat to make sounds and communicate. A crown of black feathers adorns its head; these same black feathers make up its small wings that it can use to glide, but cannot achieve full flight. It has long forelimbs for its wings, tipped with clawed paws. When it stands at full length on its forelimbs, its body is slanted and stunted looking due to its smaller back legs, ending in talons like that of a bird. A medium-sized prehensile tail drags behind it, slightly spiked at the base and at the end. Similar spikes can be found at the base of its neck and under the feather crown on its head. It has rubbery bones within its body and hollow bird-like bones in its forelegs. It is slow and awkward moving on the ground, and may find some sort of hopping easier at faster speeds.

As an adult, its mass is mostly muscle but it does not weigh a lot, around 80 pounds; it is only about 3 feet tall at the shoulder when full-grown and 4 feet long, 5.5 feet including its tail. Its slanted body and awkward walking angle may cause neck, shoulder, and back pain as an adult. As a juvenile (hatchling), it is a mere 6 inches tall and weighs only 8 pounds; a fluffy layer of tiny feathers is growing on its head with slightly longer, though still fluffy, feathers growing on its forelimbs.

At first, its gem will not be visible, but will grow to protrude from its chest when it matures (likely often covered by slime). Its flesh and organs can be seen dimly through its gem if light hits it right. The jet's raw and layered appearance makes it shimmer at odd angles.

Personality

The dark murk of the swamps of Cetus have consumed whatever creature it might have been as a child. Intelligence is a light smothered by Oil, personality is hidden behind layers of survival instinct and feral behaviors. Primitive in thinking and almost naughty in its mannerisms, Sekith is, in every manner of the word, a creature. It prowls, it hides, it jumps at you from the dark, it doesn't speak, only mimics. Perhaps years alone have taken away its knowledge of speech or how to act around others.

It can think, of course, but in a different way. It thinks in food and shelter. In how someone can benefit it, how others can entertain it. It isn't in one place for long either, always moving, always finding a different tree to lurk upon. It eats endlessly, always hungry, always looking for its next meal. In between that time, however, it seems to enjoy messing with strangers passing nearby. A rock thrown here, a creepy noise there, well it was fun to watch them run away.

Perhaps that was how it got to be so alone.

Not that it minds loneliness. Actually, it seems to prefer it that way. At least, it's never been close to someone before. Maybe it would find the company of others nice, even preferable to the endless solitude it had inflicted on itself for so many years.
