Appearance

At first glance, Septiezal has the appearance of an average Rock Python. The specie's trademark pattern drapes the full length of his stout body and is dark brownish gray in color with black flecks that speckle his cream colored underbelly. His stone, an onyx shard as black as a starless night, takes on the role of one large scale on top of his head, embedded between his eyes. When first emerging from the his chrysalis, Septiezal is small, no bigger than 24 inchs and will grow to be over to 12 feet by his 4th cycle. He will continue growing for the rest of his life and may reach over 20 feet in length.

To make up for lack of limbs, Septiezal uses his powerful muscles and scales to slide his serpentine body over the terrain and moves with the elegance of a fish when he weaves through water. He is a master at stealth. His slithering hardly makes a sound other than the soft crackle of fallen leaves.

Unblinking are his eyes as he observes the world around him. Even if his sight is taken from him, Septiezal can still "see" his surroundings. Through detection of body heat and tasting the air with his forked tongue, he can paint an accurate picture of what his eyes cannot perceive.

As a python, his body possess powerful muscles that are capable of brutally squeezing the life out of any unfortunate creature trapped within his coils. His jaws are just as dastardly as his crushing strength. With barbaric, hooked teeth, once he latches onto a target, he is not letting go unless he wants too.

***Received light scarring on his face and a small, pink burn scar on the side of his body from a fight with Dread. Currently, Septiezal partially blind in his left eye due to the eye cap or spectacle (a clear scale over the snake's eye) being scarred from burns, this blindness will last until his next shed or until he enters a chrysalis.

Personality

*Since reemerging, Septiezal has some amnesia and fragmented memories. Slowly but surely, he is fortunately gaining his memory back.

His pessimism and unwillingness to trust will remain with him for most of his life, Ever since his brush with death at the talons (and hooves) of two very demented gembounds, Septiezal had regressed back to being paranoid, maybe even a little more than his younger self. The traumatic event had taken a toll on him, and with his memory in fragments, he finds it hard to trust others, (other than Nox of course.)

The cycles had turned a shy, young snake into a large, wizened, serpent. Though still grumpy, Septiezal has been around the block a few times and it has, unarguably, mellowed him out. Now he had traded the spitfire personality for discipline, as he had grown to accept his form though such comments still cause him pain. However, rambunctious gemlings and obnoxious gembounds test the serpent's patience, and when he loses, he can be quite harsh.

Septiezal prefers to keep to himself and observe the actions of others rather than getting involved. He appreciates solitude so he can be alone with his thoughts. He may find mingling with his brethren rewarding at times, but being alone is the only activity that rekindles his energy. Because of his solitary life-style, Septiezal finds acts of affection from other Gembounds awkward and will usually become flustered when he receives affection or praise. The constant cloud of grouchiness that surrounds him has won Septiezal a reputation of being cantankerous and uptight. He can be slow to trust and quick to judge, though his view can be altered just as quickly.

Despite his ill-tempered behavior, he has been known to soften up from time to time, sometimes revealing a sense of humor. In truth, he is quite thoughtful and caring in his own, unorthodox way, especially towards those who he had managed to befriend.

However, there is a darker side to Septiezal. As a snake, he is a born killer and can be a creature of instinct. Although he mostly hunts lesser gembounds, he is not against devouring greater gembounds either, especially if it is more convenient, though it is rare. Septiezal sees nothing wrong with his controversial acts of cannibalism, as he will do whatever it takes to preserve himself. Luckily, friends and family are not on his "potential prey" list.
