Appearance

This strange creature is an amalgamation of 12 different animals squeezed into one strange creature. These animals include a rat, ox, goat, hare, rooster, dragon, tiger, monkey, boar, horse, dog, and snake. The rat can be seen in the shape of its face, long and slender with whiskers and covered with soft gray fur that is lighter around their nose and mouth. The goat is in the long beard growing from its chin, slightly darker then the fur on its face. The hare is found in the large and long ears that taper into white at the tip while the inside is a darker color, almost black. The ox is in its curved ivory horns situated just above its ears. The rooster is the prominent red growth above its head, made of soft leather-like flesh. The dragon is its neck and chest, covered with thick red and black scales and parted by a golden spine down the back. On the front are big, tough golden plates that travel down to its heart, tapering off and disappearing into its dark russet fur. The tiger is in its front legs, changing into a rough orange fur, striped with prominent black and displaying powerful muscles. The monkey is its front paws, covered in short black hairs and complete with opposable thumbs. This gives it the ability to easily use them as any primate would, granted that it can balance on its back legs.

The boar is the bristled and rough gray hairs growing on a hump on its back. The horse is its back legs, strong, and powerful, allowing them to travel at high speeds as well as its size. It will grow as a horse grows, from hatching to adulthood. While not quite up to par with a horse, it is still much faster then expected of a creature their size. The dog is both its back feet and its fangs, strong and sturdy. And finally, the snake is obvious in its long, dark green tail.

Every month, when the cycle changes, its eyes change to a different color, depending on which facet of their being is most prominent. Green for rat, white for ox, purple for goat, pink for hare, brown for rooster, gold for dragon, orange for tiger, blue for monkey, gray for boar, yellow for horse, red for dog, and black for snake.

Personality

Shengxiao is quite the odd one. while yes, he is kind, determined, playful and quite loud, he also has a tendency to be quite stubborn, or fall into states of temporary unease or numbness for no real apparent reason. anything could trigger it, though sometimes it happens on its own. he doesn't understand it much either, but he assumes its likely, due to previous experience, an automatic reaction to an overwhelming or surprising situation. it doesn't happen every day, and sometimes he can go weeks without going into this state, but it still happens sometimes. he can usually be lured out of this state if you wait for him and talk to him gently. during these episodes he will talk slowly or very quickly, and not really with any in between. he talks about things nobody understands, but claims to not remember speaking of them at all when hes back to feeling like himself again.

Sheng also loves adventure. he has a fascination with the unknown, the risky, and the downright dangerous. he laughs in the face of danger, however, his courage is sometimes misplaced. due to his aforementioned stubbornness, he will, quite often, ignore easier or safer ways to do things, sometimes even rejecting the correct way in favor for his own, whether it works or not, and he refuses to ever admit he's wrong outright, instead silently complying and, although rarely, sometimes thanking the person who suggested the better idea. this doesn't mean he's irresponsible, he will take responsibility for his actions and admit, and apologize for, when his mistakes result in the downfall or injury of his teammates. it won't happen often, as he is able to be persuaded out of being TOO stubborn, but it will happen nonetheless.

he is definitely a confident and outgoing spirit with his own flaws and cracks, but he's all around a very enjoyable person to be around, and his usual air of unending confidence and joy is almost infectuous to those who bother to know him better. he would protect his loved ones with his life, even if it meant losing it.

History

- While most are unsure of much of his past, those that knew him before will recall the time when he attempted the spell "lesser empathy" on the spire. it left him mentally insane for exactly 10 cycles, and at the end of it, seemingly struck him with an odd case of amnesia. he remembers his hatching, he remembers some of what came after that, but mostly, it became an odd blur, and suddenly, a large blank in his memory. attempts to resurface these memories usually result in an episode.
