Okay, so- I have it in sight, here's what you do: you take an eleven foot long pool noodle, then eel-ify it. Copy that? (Copy.) Okay then you give that thing a tail. (How long?) Another eleven feet. (Woah!) Woah! Woah is right. So then you- oh it's moving out of sight, hold on- okay, it's back. Four legs. (Legs?) Yes. And it's kind of, uhhh... skeletal. (Skeletal?) Yeah, bony. Got these like, long, thin spines in a few places on the top and bottom -- reminds me of lionfish. Sickly, probably 'cause of the Chaotic Plague. (It's- It's what? Sorry-) Chaotic Plague. (Oh, okay, got that. Uh, copy.) Its face is like- have you seen a sarcastic fringehead before? Or like, a dragonfish? (...No.) Look it up. Look up both. It might be able to do that thing sarcastic fringeheads do- the- have you looked it up? (Not yet.) Okay well they, they, when they open their mouths they can bloat these two flaps up on the sides- it's kind of like the, if you've seen Stranger Things? (Yeah.) The demogorgon thing. (Oooh okay.) It's terrifying. I- I don't know if this one can do that. (Hope not.) Yeah. Oh- and, maybe also try moray eels. (Try...?) I think I saw its jaw open and, well... (Teeth?) Lots of teeth. ...You know, the more I look at it, the more it- it kind of looks like a, um... [a long pause]. (A... hello? Are you-) A cat. (Oh.) Yeah. (How so?) The- the bottom, the paws. (It has paws?) Yeah, I guess it might be able to walk on land too. (Terrifying.) Terrifying. (Anything else?) Cat-like? (Sure.) Big uh, whisker-lookin' things coming off its head. I think they're also the lionfish spine things. And some of its mannerisms, and the ears... (What about the ears-?) -OH, IT SEES US, SHOOT--

The closest approximation us land dwellers can reach is a time of night and an open sea, both so dark they become indistinguishable from each other, and the worlds become knit together as one. It's disorienting: like space, there's no up or down, no starboard or port. No map or compass will do in these vacant, spirited places. There is just the imprisoned you, on your lonesome isle, with two gleaming, glowering stars in the sky (or are those eyes in the water?), and if those silent waves don't come out and swallow you now a demon just might.

This is Soh'ling's home. Their domain. They do not fear it like the prey animals do... no, they love it, because they have nothing to fear. They are the Sovereign, the mythic beast us land-dwelling plebeians were searching for; they are each of our fears, incarnate.

They quite like it that way. It's, ah... funner.

I MAY BE BABY, BUT I WILL HAVE POWER!

Soh'ling has been imprisoned within their own lonesome isle for far too long. As a result, they are having to play the game of "catch up". They are eager to learn more about the world they've missed (as long as that world remains 95% below land) and shell out their abilities to the table, and perhaps just as eager to please the Master that made them, but they aren't so much of a dull antique that they can't form their own devious aspirations. Soh'ling's an idea guy and an action guy, all for the price of one guy! With enough connection, authority, and possibly a Master's blessing, they could really have a party in this city...

UNDERWATER HORROR COMEDY

I think you get the gist. Little to no interest in land-related stuff despite being perfectly capable of traveling up there, lagging behind in the timeline but more than willing to make up for it, full of horrific passion for horrific ideas, and mostly motivated by, if not loyalty to their Master, then humor and whim. That's chaos, baby!
