Appearance
For a spider as striking as a Silk Spider, Soumak is surprisingly plain--although, perhaps, it fits her.
Like many of her kin, her base is largely a dull silver, a color only a few shades off from her webs, allowing her to blend in to it, at least for the most part. Her eyes are dark against her face, seven resting just above her pedipalps, the eight, last on the right, standing out, just barely larger than the others, striking blue flecked with gold. Her markings are definitely duller than most of her species, ranging through various shades of blue, only rarely going the brightest shade when she must, although if one catches her working on her webs, on her weaving or her work, every marking flashes bright blue. She doesn't stand particularly tall, barely the size of a child's pinky at hatching, and will only ever be a foot long, not even half a foot tall when full sized. Her voice is low and airy, breathy and quiet, so that all but those with the best of hearing have to strain their ears to hear her. If she must, she is willing to clamber onto heads to speak into your ears, as she isn't particularly good at yelling--it's not something she's built for, after all--but when she tries to yell, her voice tends to crack, go raspy and weak. Personality
Soumak is a quiet, shy, unassuming thing.
Which, unfortunately, tends to leave her seeming rather like a regular Silk Spider, a Lesser, until she speaks up "PLEASE DON'T EAT ME." which kind of sucks for both parties. She's That Friend(tm), the one content to sit off to the side and listen, curl up and take everything in, so quiet you forget she's there. And it's not uncommon for her to just sneak up, crawling out on a branch and using her relatively small size to stay out of sight--while she's shy, she is rather curious, and the design, the colors of all the gembounds give her so many ideas! She is very creative, though. Her days are spent weaving, making webs and testing what can be made out of them, learning and growing and testing. Her dream is to be able to turn her 'drab' white webs colors, to create more beautiful and incredible things. And her work is where she shines--if you dare speak of them, be prepared to find somewhere comfortable to sit, as she will never shut up. Ever. Say goodbye to your family, your friends, your Familiar and your life before. Better learn to drink from the air and photosynthesize. This is your life now. History
