Appearance

Sprig is the peculiar mix of an African Lion and an alien. The alien being a multicolored grub which is basically a giant leech. But from first sight, he is more lion like than grub like.
The general shape of the body is a lion, with the fur being a light golden hue. Except-- are those LIGHTS on the back? Yep, that's right. From his rainbow grub parent he has acquired glowing stripes of light that run from the top of the head to the tip of the tail. They are bioluminescant lights of sunflower yellow (#e6c229), sunset orange (#f17105), carmine (#d11149), indigo (#6610f2) and powder blue (#1a8fe3) which continue down the length of his body. The lights are used when feeling a particularly strong emotion or exertion of any kind that gets the heart racing. When this happens, the lights all activate, and race up and down the stripes like an airport landing strip. When the lights are not on, they are just a normal color that they would be, just not glowing.
Sprig's eyes are normal lion eyes, but he has the remnants of vestigial eyestalks on the top of his head. They contain no eyes, and instead end in a feeler like point. These eyestalks can be folded back, or moved to touch things. They are very sensitive though, and when harmed they hurt really bad. These eyestalks contain the glowing lights too.
His stone is a marble-like magnesite shaped like a crescent moon, or, a curved leaf. It sits right smack dab in the center of his forehead, in between his eyestalks. The pure white gemstone is rather large, and easily noticeable.

Personality

With a love and respect for nature just like his father, Sprig loves to grow plants. He is experimenting with the tastes and textures of all plants, making new recipes and discovering new ingredients as he goes. He often smells of herbs, or other sweet and savory smelling things. And so, Sprig's main hobby and passion is cooking. He is always seeking further knowledge on recipes or experimenting on his own to invent new foods. Although sometimes the ideas he has can be a bit weird, he always tries them out and is the first to test his own food. After all if he needs to make sure he doesn't accidently poison someone. But that won't happen! He's very careful in ensuring high quality food.
He also loves building things! He is crafty, and his hobbies consist of building toys, trinkets, or even houses! He is often found taking even the simplest things and turning it into something amazing. Logs become sculptures and flowers become crowns. Nothing is too hard a thing for him to build, as he tries his hardest at making things whatever it is.
Sprig is often found among plant life, either soaking in the sounds and scents of nature, or growing his plants. These are often used for his cooking as he does have a preference for using ingredients that he has grown himself to ensure freshness and so he knows that its safe.
He is gentle with everything, and when hunting he tries to give the prey a quick and painless death. Sprig upholds the values that his father did, of not taking anything unless needed. But being too gentle can also cause problems. It is quite easy to bully him, since he is too nice to ever stand up for himself. Sprig almost never insults anyone, always finding a nice and polite thing to say. Instead of fighting, he likes to talk things out to resolve problems. There are few times that he will ever say anything bad, and when he does, you know something is wrong.
He is quite the observant lion, liking to watch and take things in before taking an action. You may be surprised what body language and cues he picks up, that you may not even realize you were doing yourself. Along with being observant, he has great memory, and tries to remember everything he learns.

A very fine straw gardener's hat, of the sort that would have protected them from sunburn during long hours spent out in the garden, if the caves had actually had a sun. However, this one was quite fashionable! It had a broad, light green ribbon around its brim, a preserved pink daisy blossom on the ribbon (on the front, but to one side), and several tiny little pouches around the sides of the hat's brim along that ribbon. The hat was designed not to interfere too much with Sprig's eyestalks, too.
