Appearance

Perhaps the most unnerving thing about Sunny is the fact that their shell is translucent. In their youth, this is particularly alarming, because the shell is very similar to its adult size while the rest of their body is not. Sunny's organs can be viewed through the smooth, blue crystal, and in certain lighting, one is even able to see her blood moving through her veins. Alarming as this may be, the light doesn't seem to impact her at all. In fact, she takes this easily in stride, and is quite fond of her bulky but unique-looking shell.

Otherwise, Sunny looks like any other land snail. Her skin is textured and brown, with paler sections underneath. As an adult, she'll be a little smaller than is average for her species, coming in at around two and a half inches tall. Because of her lack of hands or a mouth that can carry things, she has trouble transporting objects long distances, and moving quickly in any context. Fortunately, there are plenty of bigger creatures she can hitch rides on, although she'll then have trouble returning due to the lack of a slime trail.

Personality

Sunny is... well, sunny. They are a bright and optimistic little snail, with a good heart and a desire to see others be happy. They are concerned with justice and things being fair, and are frustrated immensely by being mistaken for a Lesser. Sunny believes in sticking up for the little guy, and has to admit that they wish there were more intelligent snails around. Having lunch with Lessers who barely know you're there gets old, and there's something about hanging out with another snail that just can't be replicated by another species's company.

Sunny is also quite observant. They can ascertain how to best address a situation from just a few interactions, and are unusually intelligent for a snail (even one with a gem for a shell). Their memory is impeccable, and they trust their instincts. They've never been failed by them before, after all. These habits give Sunny the means to be manipulative, and she isn't afraid to take advantage of what she learns in order to get ahead in a tense interaction.

Finally, Sunny is superstitious. They tend to read into everything far too much, and while they aren't exactly sure from where their superstitions came or why they feel so strongly about certain things, the feelings do not abate and so Sunny entertains them.

History

Sunny hatched in Fornax alongside a young bear called Tema, and the two set off together as sisters. Sunny quickly made more friends -- a cat called Madhukar, and a dragon called Carja. Tema and Sunny settled in Eridanus, at least for a little while, and Sunny began to feel a wanderlust.

In her second cycle, she went stone-hunting with Carja and explained her desire to be a mother -- to protect and care for something. She later formed a familiar bond with a kooru, and went stone-hunting in Eridanus as well (and later, Polaris).

The Polaris hunt yielded two stones, and in the aftermath she gave one to a creature called Wyvern so that she could fulfill her own desire for motherhood. Later, Sunny's wanderlust drew her to Tunnel K...

Here, Sunny visited the Dark Altar and had a vision of chaos and shadows. She inadvertently taunted this, and the Corruption Monster himself rose up out of the Altar to tell her off.

Voidstrider is Sunny's familiar/mobility aid. She's a blue kooru blue with spirl-shaped markings all across her body. Voidstrider is a perceptive kooru, relying more on her intuition and senses to avoid danger than actual physical prowess. However, because of this, she's extremely skittish. Every shadow holds danger -- troublesome, considering Sunny is rather fond of dark, damp places. She's probably nearby in all of Sunny's threads, even if not explicitly stated.
