Appearance

"That can't be a horse, it's neck is far too long."
"Well that's the shortest giraffe I've ever seen."

She emerges into the world with an odd conglomeration of features, and though it looks like she should be a hybrid, her species is startlingly singular. A long, wide-barreled neck supports a much smaller a diamond-shaped head with wide-set eyes and (eventually) two small, stubby horns. Her tongue, fit inside her diminutive mouth, is long enough to be a comical thing and typically flops out of her mouth of it's own accord, curling in the air and grabbing hold of (probably inappropriate) things for comfort.

A red-brown coat covers her form with horizontal, white-striped markings on her hind quarters and the tops of her legs, providing her with a surprising amount of camouflage in the denser, more vegetated parts of the cave.

Her gem, a cat's eye scapolite, makes up her right front hoof, and though it's a relatively hard stone, the ever fearful Tillie is often too paranoid to walk on it, causing her to hobble about on three legs through most of her daily activities.

Even though she's still a newborn, Tillie is, more or less, just a small version of her fully-grown self.

Personality

ANXIOUS. SWEET. SKEPTICAL. PURE.

Born with paranoia in her bones, Tillie thinks with love but operates with fear. Her tender, trembling mind exists in the blunders of the past and the worries of the future. Skeptical of both her safety and her worth, she treads through life limping, burdened, and full of apprehension.

However, as grievous as these doubts are, they are innately individual, and do not extend to those outside her person. She meets others with kindness and respect, supplementing the love she should have for herself with the love of friends and family.

The young okapi has a talent for self-expression (even if that results in her whimpering in the corner). No matter the situation, Tillie will let you know how she's being affected. Due to her anxious nature, Tillie feels safest when she's 'home' -- in a familiar environment with those she cares about, though her desire for comfort can make her an un-spontaneous stick in the mud. Motivated by (what seems like to her) an unachievable harmony, Tillie is a diplomat, a nurturer, and a doormat, always putting the needs of others before herself, for their needs are the ones that deserve to be met, not hers. Never hers.
