Appearance

As he's grown older, Todd's fur has begun to bloom from pure black to possessing the signature grey overcoat and darker undertones of a silver fox. His ears, legs and tail remain almost pure black with a snow-white tuft on the end of his long and fluffy tail. His voice, whilst growing deeper and more soothing on the ears, will likely keep his singsong tone and there's no doubt that he'll never get any quieter.

However, in his second cycle, Todd was injured and the wounds make him stand out like a sore thumb. His lower back and hind limbs were covered almost entirely with scabs and exposed skin, and what little fur remained was blackened and curled. His tail managed to keep a hold of only a few wisps.

As Todd has grown, he has largely recovered from these wounds, and he looks much like an average silver fox. His injuries become more apparrent when he begins to move, the motions of his hind legs twitching, erratic, and harder for Todd to control.

His voice is, and perhaps always will be yelping and singsong, with the kind of innocent whining tone a child uses when asking for a favour or treat. He doesn't give much away emotionally through his voice, and it's rarely (if ever) lowered or whispering. He has the kind of droning accent and slightly primitive dialect which suggests he could speak normally if he wanted to, but generally just doesn't feel like it.

Quite small by many Gembounds' standards, when fully grown he'll measure around 40cm at the shoulder and weigh around 11kg.

His left forepaw has blade-like claws composed of the labradorite stone. However, all four of his claws consist of a single stone and join in the centre of the paw, leaving his toes immovable and paw stiff below the wrist. Those who see him may notice that he moves with a slight limp because of this.

Personality

Todd has grown a lot in the many cycles he's spent roaming Origin cave. As friendly and welcoming as ever, as sweet as he is naive, the old fox could be mistaken for one of three cycles and not thirty. He's playful, although a little world-weary; motions can still be a struggle due to an injury received many years ago.

Still, he tries his best and doesn't let it get him down.

The fox has very little filter between his thoughts and mouth, and may occasionally say things that are unintentionally hurtful to others. If called out on, he can be sensitive and apologetic, and friends of the fox may find it common for him to break down in tears. However, he still might not understand why; nuances and subtleties of social interaction will always be somewhat of a mystery to him. It might be cycles of aloneness that made him so; or it may equally be the youth that shields him like a protective blanket.

Whatever the case, Todd makes a loyal friend, although he can be needy and clingy at times. He's missed the friends that he made in his youth, and hopes that he won't ever have to let go of them again.

History

Cycle 1

Hatched in Polaris. Befriended Kallista upon her hatching. Was taught magic by Khloros and became determined to 'find' the other spells. Met Priest and believed his words about the All-Mother. He believes the All Mother is the source of everything and wants to be a guard like Priest. Given a baubled feather and a foreboding fortune telling by Macawi.

Cycle 2

Attacked by Kingsfoil, Deadnettle and Feverfew in Orion, crippling him for the forseeable future. Goes to pisces, and remains there. Driven by loneliness, he becomes anxious and clingy. Reunited with Kallista, he resumes the hunt for spells! After a cycle spent recovering, he travels to Eridanus.

Cycle 3

On the hunt for spells with Kallista! Travels from Eridanus and into the tunnels where he encounters the carvings, only to turn back out of fear. Meets little Lakshmi, and seems to have taken a fatherly role (he's not bery good at it).
