Appearance
A stout little creature at birth, Troy is only few inches shy of three feet tall, with limber legs and a short, pudgy body. His head is tapered, wedge-shaped, with a narrow, slender snout and wide, oval ears. His mane is what makes this little zebra special, though- like the rest of his subspecies, this Grevy's Zebra colt sports a line of upright, bristly hair from his forehead to his rump, tapering only around his mid-section where his body bends the most. This trait will remain with him throughout his life, even as the rest of his coat molts and thins with age.
He is, as all Zebra are, covered from nose to tail in bold, solid stripes. His base coat appears paler than typical, a sort of 'black on white' appearance by the pale brown of his nose. Unlike most zebra breeds, the Grevy's stripes are far more intricate. They cross his body in tight, even streaks, carrying along down his legs right down to the hoof, growing smaller the less girth they have to cover. These stripes blend seamlessly into his mane, which tapers into black at the ends, despite white stripes. His face is finely etched with curved, perfectly spaced lines, with bend up and over along the center of his forehead, as if curling around an invisible horn. Troy's stone is a bit of a blunder, though. It grows from his cheekbone, right below his right eye. It frames his eye socket as a foal, a sharp edge running along as if a dark blue stripe mixed in with the black. As he grows, however, this stone will grow with him, eventually expanding chaotically to cover the entire right side of his face- blinding him completely on that side and limited his neck movement much later on in life. The stone will finally cease growing after he reaches six cycles. Then, it will look as if the right side of his face became frozen in dark ice, jagged and uneven. Personality
He starts out adventurous and willful, a friendly little tyke with little fear of the world around him. His core traits will stay with him always- the sense of adventure keeping him from settling in any one place, and a desire to prove himself great keeps him going at top speed. Everything he does is fast, at least, while he's young.
As he ages and his stone begins to distract him, Troy will become defensive and exclusive. As his vision begins to fail, he'll become paranoid of anyone on his blind side, easily frustrated when his depth perception fails him and he stumbles or falls, and his temper will eventually become savage. As he edges towards adulthood, and his stone covers his face more and more, he'll become self-conscious of his appearance and abilities. Heavily reliant on his magic, especially as he ages. Eventually, his physical abilities will weaken, it'll be enough for him to just keep his head straight. As the stone grows ever larger, he'll become more powerful magically, but be stunted physically as a result. This makes him easily agitated once he's grown, and he fears that he'll eventually become too frail to be of any use to anyone. History
