This creature resembles nothing that can be found on earth, nor does it resemble a hybrid made by the earth-lookalikes that populate the Origin Caves.

The closest thing it could be compared to is some kind of lizard-- but its body is too long and too crooked, its legs are too tall, and it is simply too big to be any form of a lizard. Its long spindly body is thin, where ribs can be seen sticking out of its torso.

The spines on its arched back are minorly poisonous. Should one be attacked by them, they would be fine, but if they were to lick or bite them, they would be minorly ill for a few hours at the maximum-- mostly nausea, and is never serious.

Its glowing head is skull-like, though not literally exposed skull. Two-pointed antlers stick out from behind it. Should one be unfortunate enough to see this creature with its mouth open, they will find that it opens just a little too wide for comfort. Its teeth, gums, the roof of its mouth-- everywhere except for its tongue and saliva --are totally pitch-black bordering on a deep blue.

Its tongue is pure white, glowing faintly in darkness, and its saliva is similarly gently-glowing. It smells very sweet, and it is not uncommon to see this creature lurking in darkness with its mouth wide open, waiting for prey to wander too close to the glowing light and sweet smells.

This creature's body is almost entirely an inky-black, except for a few main areas: its underside is a dark blue that fades out into black, it's limbs and the end of its tail are a dim, glowing white, and its body is covered in small white freckles. There are hundreds-- perhaps thousands of them --and they almost resemble stars on a night sky with the way they gently glow in darkness.

It has, in total, twelve eyes. None of them are where they should be. There are five on each shoulder, and one on each side of its neck. They can move independently of each other, and are pure white with black pupils that react not too dissimilar to reptile eyes. They even have two eyelids, though they're shaped more like human eyes.

Its long legs are strong, and it moves near-silently except for a gentle tapping of long, sharp claws on the cave floor. Said claws are probably the creatures primary weapon and defence, given that it seems to prefer acting as an ambush-fighter-- though it is unclear if this is actually a species-specific preference or a personal one.

Its legs, however, are strong and burly. It appears to be suited for climbing onto high places, onto ledges or up into trees with minimal effort. When it is older, the creature will make his den on a ledge in Orion, likely where it blends in the best to the environment.

This creature, should it be touched, is always cold. As a consequence, it is constantly seeking out new sources of heat-- if it be a particularly warm patch of grass, or another unfortunate gembound that happens to stumble across its path, if it's attracted by the lights, the sweet scent of its saliva, or just curious to find out what it is.

On its neck, there is a chunk of moonstone. It is the only patch of white on the creature's body that does not glow; unless he is casting magic.

On top of it all-- as a juvenile, it is about the size of a large dog. Within four cycles, it grows into a size of a moose-- about seven feet at the shoulder with an even longer, spindly body.

The best way to describe this creature is that its an outsider looking in.

He is quiet. He is patient beyond words. He does not comprehend social cues. He is, by all definitions, an outlier. Slinking along the shadows as if he were one himself, he observes others with silent curiosity. He takes near-constant mental notes and can be found frequently muttering to himself. Even when addressing others-- even when addressing a crowd --he speaks slowly and quietly as if he were sharing some private secret.

He is often lost within his own head, but he is not absent-minded. He is in fact, incredibly attentive. A dozen eyes on his body can be seen near-constantly flicking and staring off in different directions, as though frantically trying to take in every detail of his surroundings.He is wise beyond his years, but he seemingly struggles to find the correct words to convey himself.

Speaking senselessly in half-riddles, this creature might be hard to understand. Some might take comfort in that he finds it hard to understand them. Some do not.

And that's okay.

This creature has no sense of humour to speak of, yet crooked smirks can often be found tugging along his maw as if someone had just cracked a joke that he found particularly funny. His lack of humour may cause him appear dry or cruel, but he is an incredibly gentle creature, albeit incredibly aloof.

Try as he might, Veil does not seem to be able to get a grasp on the habits-- social or otherwise --of other gembounds. He frequently misses social cues, misreads situations and emotions entirely. It is hard for him to sympathize with others or understand why they might be feeling a certain way. It is quite frankly a horrific idea to come to this creature for emotional support, but he may be able to offer some blunt, sometimes misguided advice.

It is not entirely uncommon for Veil to ask strange or questionable requests of others, in that slow, quiet tone of his. One of the most frequent requests to tumble out of his maw is a very simple question. "May I watch you sleep?" Some might find this entirely abhorrent, creepy, and sinister.

And that's okay, too.
