Striking in color and loud in voice, this Gembound's raucous nature hides a warm and caring heart.

Great Black Backed Gulls are the largest of the seagulls, resembling birds of prey more than seabirds in some respects. Vinnie's no exception. His beak is long, thick and pointed, his eyes hawklike in their focus. He's stoutly-built, thick and powerful, and scrappy and tough in combat.

Vinnie weighs around four to five pounds, his wingspan around five to five and a half feet.

He is snowy white with striking coal-black wings, pale yellow eyes, and a yellow beak with a red spot on the lower jaw. His eyes have a thin scarlet rim, and his legs are a fleshy pink color. In all but one respect, he looks like a completely ordinary Great Black-Backed Gull.

The exception comes in the form of his gem: a shifting blue-green labradorite perched on the middle toe of his right foot, like a ring. It shifts in the light, sometimes the pale bright blue of an unknown sky, at other times the dark blue-green of a stormy sea. The gull often gazes at it, wondering why it reminds him of something he's never known.

Personality

Vinnie would be the first to shrug and tell you he's "just a regular guy." His voice is raucous, deep, and thick with an urban accent. He is warm, curious, and friendly, quick to lend his sharp insight even where it might not be wanted, and quick to anger. He's stubborn and might hold grudges for awhile, though he's too much of a softie, deep down, to act on them. He's also a bit of a coward, unless he's pissed off, unwilling to enter particularly dangerous situations unless there's very little choice.

Vincenzo is talkative to a fault, gregarious, wanting to gather and gossip and joke pretty much nonstop, and with a startlingly filthy mouth. He's got a well-developed sense of humor that guides his practicality (bordering on cynicism), sometimes with hilarious results: he says what he thinks, no holds barred. This can lead to him coming across as callous or even rude. He's also startlingly genre-savvy, quick to point out what he perceives as the suicidal hero or the villain of a given situation--usually in a whisper to the person beside him.

A bit of a dreamer, though embarrassed by this, Vincenzo's secret "vice" is his poetry: a tendency to create mediocre but heartfelt rhymes and recite them, usually in private. He also likes to give out nicknames, usually alliterative, like his own: Vinnie the Voice.
