Appearance

As a young pup, Vladis was already a rather ragged looking fella. His fur starts out completely black and sticking out in all directions. It doesn’t improve really with time. As he ages most of his fur will lighten to a muddy and marbled greyish-brown. His legs, belly, parts of his tail, and a distinctive mask-like marking around his eyes are all that remains of the earlier black. Physically, Vladis is short, plump, and scruffy with a bit of a waddle as he walks. The left beady little eye is a vibrant red while the right has been replaced with a lump of glittering pyrite stone. On the left side of his jaw one of his canines is a snaggletooth, poking over the gum to be seen despite a closed mouth. Black claws and a black nose complete the tanuki’s look. Over time his arrogance and lack of competence will result in some scaring, tearing of his ears, and rough patches of fur. Overall, Vladis is not about to win any sort of beauty contests in Origin. He tends to slink through areas with his head down after one foolish plot or another. Despite his less than charming appearance, though, he stands with confidence when approached by others unless pointed out how ridiculous he’s being.

Personality

If you were to ask Vladis, he would say that he’s brilliant, cunning, a leader, cunning, and brave. In truth, he’s very little of any of those. The tanuki is arrogant, conniving, and very greedy. He truly believes that he should not only have nice things, but that somehow, he deserves them for simply being the amazing (in his mind) person that he is. He is not beneath lying, stealing, or manipulating others to get what he wants. Unfortunately, he is also pretty terrible at doing so resulting in an often-unpleasant attitude. Vladis is many times grumpy about one thing or another. He is not a solely unlikeable character, though. Vladis often puts on a charming face towards those he thinks might put him in favorable odds. He is also very confident in his abilities (lacking though they may be) and determined. He is a trouble maker, but a likeable and predictable one so many are okay putting up with his antics to a degree. Better to go with the evil you know than the one you don’t. His charm can get to be sleazy, though, and patience can run thin after a time. He is also a hoarder of trinkets he finds one way or another. These can range from pretty gems, to strange feathers, to interesting bones. Anything that strikes his fancy or seem valuable to someone else. He is very envious and jealous of others and desires to have what they have.

History

Cycle 1 Vladis hatched alone in Canis. He is immediately greeted by primal feelings of greed. Exploring around he discovers two treasures along with pieces of pyrite from his stony egg; a small broken blue gemstone attached to a scapula and a large skull with a creamy silver horn of gemstone on it. These are them brought to a den as the first of his hoard.

Cycle 2 Much of the first and second cycle of his life is spent learning to survive; to hunt, to find water, to care for himself and his hoard. Not many venture into Canis so he learns to fend for himself.

Cycle 3 As a teenager, he is proud of how well he's done as well as facing false thoughts of invincibility. He ends up stumbling onto a pack of large echoing grey rats.

He is bounded with his familiar Ratty the echoing grey rat. She is a small but intelligent (for a lesser gembound) dark grey rat with a very small emerald stone on her rump by the base of her tail. As her name implies, she can echo sounds she hears around her. She can make a guess as to what things mean but does not fully understand the "greater tongue" so words may come out wrong.

I'm currently a night shift nurse for a mental institute. When not working, I enjoy reading, drawing, and working on various craft projects. I'm currently learning to sew and procrastinating on making art dolls, lol.
