Or at the bright noon-tide, in solitude wanderAppearance![]() A shining beast of twilight, a creature found only in dreams. Mutation has changed the Voidseer, though he is still recognizable as the cobra he once was. He's long and unmistakably serpentine, tapering off after a whopping 18 feet in length. Quite oddly, he has the physical body of a female, but identifies more masculine. Dark indigo scales cloak his body. His belly's a pale blue and strongly armored to protect his insides. Sprinkled across his upper half are gleaming, golden scales, which shine with a faint iridescence. The back of his hood's largely blank: there's a similar golden trim around the rim, and a circular pattern at the center, but nothing else. His stone's a semi-black opal, glittering and specked with various impurities. It looks akin to a galaxy full of stars-- quite a shame he's never seen one to compare. It's incredibly large and replaces the front part of his cobra hood, meaning it is permanently uncurled. Unfortunately, it's splendor has drawbacks: during his youth it was exceedingly heavy, meaning he could barely move until his third cycle. Even in adulthood, he has difficulties moving long distances, and it locks his upper spine into a permanent curl. He can tilt his head up and down a few degrees, but turning to look at things require a full-body movement. A faint web of cracks spiral out from his left side. It is not visible from most angles unless a light is shined directly at it. During heavy spellcasts it sparks with faint magic. His head is the same blunt shape as any cobra, though slightly softened and curved by metamorphosis. His lower jaw's the same pale as his underside, as well as the scales directly over his eye. His eyes haven't changed, the same unblinking silvery gaze that he's always had. Hidden in his jaws are two modified fangs, dripping with an incredibly dangerous venom. Thankfully, he rarely uses it for anything other than hunting. Curling out of his head (with smaller growths on his hood) are two large, hollow horns. They, like some of his scales, are colored gold, though they are much lighter than the actual material. He can't use them to fight, though it's great for intimidation factor or simply resting his head on when he's tired. And budding out of the base of those horns is a large, compound bug eye. It's sight is nowhere near as good as his main eyes, but can see ultraviolet as well as generally being quick to spot movements. Binh's voice is androgynous and sing-songy, like that of a bird. He drags his words and has a strong drawl.
But of course, all beauty comes at a cost. That stone around his neck? It's heavy. Incredibly heavy. As a child, the gem would weigh more than his entire body, and leaves him stuck wherever it lands. Typically he'd be lying face up (or face down, depending on how cruel his latest visitor was), surviving by just airdrinking and occasionally trying to lure a lesser close with his tail. His head is stuck in a slight angle by the stone's grip, and while he can tilt himself a few degrees up or down, he'd never get himself horizontal with the rest of his body. This means that the typical slithering gait of a snake is impossible for him, and he must try to hold his heavy head up in order to move. Once he grows into an adult he'll be a little more balanced, though disuse of his neck will result in his muscles atrophying. He can travel short distances by himself, moreso with assistance, but it's unlikely he'll ever go on the same grand adventures as other gembound.
Binh's voice is an androgynous singsong, which would sound very pretty if it weren't for his absolute lack of social skills. He typically speaks with a drawl and slight lisp. The cobra doesn't seem to have the traits of either males or females, but for simplicity's sake he refers himself to as "he".
Personality

Of course, this isn't exactly the case. Being essentially paralyzed from the neck-up for his childhood, and only barely able to move later on, Binh quickly began to value patience. He doesn't rush around like other gembounds, and finds that simply staying still and relaxing is quite nice. It took quite a bit of creativity to learn how to hunt and eat in such a state, and when resting this forms into vivid daydreams-- where he gets his "vacant stare" from. He can also get surprisingly philosophical with those he's close to (though without much eloquence), and if he lives long enough, might form his own rudimentary religion. Binh doesn't see his semi-immobility as anything bad and is quite content, though he does appreciate help getting around. For him, time alone to think is all he needs: no dramatic adventures, no harrowing plots, and no violent altercations. Just peace and quiet. New Addition: +3 corruption from Altar encounter. Binh experiences violent urges and a desire to manipulate that sharply contrast his laid-back personality. Most of the time he keeps this largely under control, though his temper is shorter and he has few qualms against attacking those who harm his family. History
Binh was found virtually drowning in Eridanus by the dragons Electrum and Haven, the latter of which took him in as her own. After a close-call with golems in Polaris, the cobra became a little fearful of the world and retreated back to Eridanus, essentially becoming a hermit for the next three cycles.
In the 64th cycle, Binh met Sunny, an ambitious (and rather queer) snail who he took a liking to. He's pledged himself and his magic ability to the snail in hopes of helping her with her dream.

As a King Cobra, Binh's fangs contain highly potent-- and often lethal-- venom. Of course, he's is a peaceful creature and only uses this to hunt, but (with the player's approval) it is possible for him to bite another gembound. If so, the effect of the venom would likely depend on a dice roll:
Critical Failure: Binh somehow manages to bite himself. He's immune to his own poison, but that wouldn't stop it from hurting. Failure: Nothing happens. Either no venom is injected, or his fangs did not pierce skin. Barely Successful: Within the next half-hour pain, blurry vision, vertigo, and general confusion develop. It may be disorienting, but the victim would (mostly) be able to function. Successful: Intense pain, sleepiness, impaired vision, and orientation problems set in within a few minutes. Mammals will feel extremely sensitive to touch while simultaneously feeling sedated. Smaller creatures may experience an erratic heartbeat or fall comatose. Partial paralysis will set in within half an hour. Critical Success: The victim experiences extreme pain, impaired vision, lethargy, complete inability to orient self, and paralysis within several seconds. Within several minutes their heartbeat will become unstable, and unless sustained by magic, the victim can become comatose. Death is possible, especially in small creatures. Avatar by Dark.
