Appearance

|[ lemme redesign this beast... * puts her in the toaster for 5 more mins * ]|

Whistle is a (silly & whimsical hybrid) between a Victoria crowned pigeon, a Double barred finch, and a Wombat, which might seem a lot at first, and then you remember her sibling a sextuple - way hybrid and it seems pretty simple in comparison. Still, an interesting combination!

She takes the form of a griffin of critters, not quite the majestic apex of the archetype. She's quadrapedal, the front half the anatomy of a small-ish bird. Her diet is primarily seeds, but berries and insects act as supplements to her diet. She possesses the blue beak of her finch side and the mohawk of the crowned pigeon, dark barring circling her face and shoulders. She sports some of the mutations of her life giver - a pair of bat ears and whiskers, as well as icy blue eyes atypical of her brown eyed descendants. Buried somewhere in her belly fluff is marsupial’s pouch (but since it’s use in reproduction is unneeded, it can serve as a storage space.)

Following her spine from the neck, her pigment darkens and burns in a way of neither parent, instead a combination of the two, the dark of Rainstorm's feathers with the mouse brown of the original owner of the stone. Her underbelly and inner wings are a subdued cream / beige, lightening near flanks and darkening near spine and belly as the finch's colours do. Wings sprout from her shoulders, not quite able to carry her weight without the assistance or intervention of magick. The mottling is more pronounced here, the gradient of the lighter colours turning into a cheerful bright speckling closer to her wing tips. Her forelimbs are stormy coloured talons, bare and fragile-looking.

Her heavier half is wombat, smooth feathers transitioning to a forever fluffy combination of fur and down, covering much darker set of paws made for burrowing. A shimmering set of black tail feathers grow from the rump. She clocks in at a meager 3 feet from tip to tail, and stands at about 2 feet 5 inches.

Between her wings is a bubbling shard of hemimorphite, the same hue of her eyes. It is an oval shape, thin enough and far enough from the spine to not inhibit movement much.

Personality

Naturally flighty, being a hybrid of two prey animals; Whistle is not the brave or the bold type. What she is, when it calls for it - is painfully stubborn. This may be mistaken for dedication or something similarly admirable, perhaps even bravery. It is not that. It is just a refusable to accept change or a threat to stability.

Despite being so quick to scatter, she's not exactly fast, not like the birds she resembles. In fact, she finds it quite difficult to fly - so instead of relying on her biology, she relies on the tools at her disposal. Being too heavy to take off into true flight, she relies on magic to lift her, another symptom of that stubborness. If she can't do what she wants, she makes a way.

Aside from this, she's quite humble, a scurrying beast that's more intent on foraging and napping in a burrow somewhere. Stay out of her business, she'll stay out of yours. She's very much capable of holding a grudge, not so much acting on it, not without help. No matter, she can settle for judging glares from shadowy crevice. She will not allow you to forget, not for a second.
